Building on its more than 25 years of success in bringing Mexican cuisine to Walt Disney World guests, San Angel Inn, LLC will open a new 400-seat waterside restaurant and quick service food location specializing in freshly baked culinary flavors of Mexico.

During the refurbishment, Guests will still have the opportunity to experience Mexican cuisine from San Angel Inn Restaurante or La Cava de Tequila, located inside the Mexico pavilion, or Taqueria Del Lago, located along the promenade.

It looked like there were some sort of theatrical lights on the roof of the Cantina, probably for use during Illuminations (they looked like they fold up from the roof so they point toward the lagoon. Are they keeping these through the construction, or is the show just going to be a little dark on that side for a while?

And is the San Angel Inn something that exists outside of WDW? I thought it was just a random name they came up with for their restuarants in the pavillion...

Pity Epcot has no parade currently - its show system is impressive when it springs into action. They use it periodically to give better pathway lighting when crowd levels warrant the use. Holidays, Food and Wine, and busy EMH nights.

Link above to the "REAL" San Angel Inn located in Mexico. Like Alfredos, its a real restaurant chain that decided to operate inside EPCOT.

I hope they have better food, and better service than the one at Epcot.

Needless to say, we won't be stopping at the San Angel Inn on our upcoming trip.

I read somewhere that this changeup also includes a new menu at the existing San Angel Inn. Maybe they'll finally get rid of the Tostitos and tomato sauce that they call chips and dip!
