Remember, when it opened the 'resort' was basically considered and marketed as a value resort (even if they didn't use that terminology). The jacuzzi was a total joke for what for years was the largest hotel in the USA (really!) as it fit four smallish adults. So, they're just doing what should have been done a decade ago. I'm more concerned about upkeep. I've had some nightmarish experiences at that resort -- including the first Disney room I ever had to refuse outright and tell management it shouldn't be in service. As far as I know, the rooms haven't had a major upgrade since 2000-01 (about when I last stayed) and I can only imagine what those rooms look like. <<This new DVC could look cool. I hope they keep a waterfall, I loved that. I found the resort so relaxing. Not too busy feeling or hustle bustly. Perfect for a family of 4! One thing I LOVE about WDW is that there is so many different places to stay, everyone can find their happy place!

I'm curious to see if it will have windows (assuming it's enclosed). If it does, it would be a great place to watch fireworks (if that's permitted). Doobie.

Now, when I went the rooms were nothing like you described. They were well kept and just as good as any other resort on property. And as far as the resort itself, it's wonderful. So relaxing and laid-back, and quite beautiful. I really enjoyed watching watching Illuminations (well, what you could see of it) while laying on a comfy hammock eating a delicious dessert from the food court, and that to me is what Disney vacationing is all about.

I'm reasonably sure that I'll likely stay there in the future at some point, but it sure won't be until they rehab those rooms again.

I don't suppose most residents of New Orleans would want to stay at POFQ/Riverside either.
