And how come there are so many scaffolds, I thought the park was supposed to be in prime condstion for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. I'm visiting in October, I hope the excitement is not only a distant memory already

It's in a perfect area of the park.. and most little kids absolutely LOVE it. If you think about it, the majority of the MK is geared towards older kids. Even Fantasyland is filled with "remain seated" rides for them and having this area to allow them to just let loose and burn it off is great. I'm sure most parents of small children can relate. (I'm not a parent by the way, but I am a happy Uncle). If they were to fill in the similar sub area of Disneyland, it would be a different story. With DL being in the middle of Anaheim, water features are at a premium. At the MK, there is water all around and it rains quite often, so I don't think it will be as missed. Just MY opinion of course.
