I love the Herb ryman Castle, I would love one of thos for my home.

    The Gardens seem lovely too!

I wouldn't stay at the Grad Floridian or DLH DLP again if paying, but I am tempted by the DLH HK!

You obviously haven't seen the Hollywood Hotel pics yet. Compared to that place and all the 3 hole silhouettes everywhere, Hong Kong DL hotel is VERY subtle.

I like the hotel rooms though, very nice :). Makes me want to get one them suites for a few nights, but that would be half my tuition for grad school :(. I like the gardens too, but I'm wondering with the FREE gardens here and at the other hotel, it doesn't give people much incentive to pay for it to see them at HKDL. I mean, why bother?

OH YEAH!!!, Space Mountain and those other 3 rides there!! Stupid me, almost forgot ;D.

The Mickey's are certainly a lot more classy and subtle in this hotel. The garden looks nice, but it sure seems small, compared to what I was expecting.

What's up with the pool slides completely based on random rocks? I wonder why they didn't use something more orignal. The red and gray styles at the hotels look nice, just out of place.

The Grand Floridian wasn't intended to be "the Walt Disney World Hotel" with hidden Mickeys left, right and centre. It's supposed to pay homage to turn-of-the-century Florida. Which results in most of it looking like a severely oversized old lady-owned Boca condo, but frankly I don't think that's any worse than HKDLH's hidden Mickey nightmare. The GF has fish-shaped knick-knacks, the HKDLH has Mickeys in the woodwork. It's equally eccentric. ;)

Frankly I'm liking DLP's Disneyland Hotel's modesty compared to these two. It's like a lovable David amongst two Goliaths.

Also, there is a pad between the 2 hotels for a possible 3rd hotel, though this would be after an expansion of the 2 existing hotels.

BTW folks, I honestly have to say I am not overly impressed with the DLH at DLP. I don't know, maybe it's because the service was sub par compared to the Hotel New York. Or maybe it was the peeling paint I found off putting. I don't know, maybe it's me, but when you are putting out a lot of money for a room, I expect good service and a well maintained property.

It sounds like a lot of work to bring those dredgers and barges back in to reclaim more land.

I bet they dont do it, until it is obvious that they will make a solid profit on the properties already at the resort.

There is a convention center with a ballroom that is 888 sq ft (a lucky number). I think a lot of the space will be used for the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings to begin with.

Dave's assessment of the expansion plans is right. It does make me chuckle that most people seem to be more interested in the expansion plans than a resort that doersn't even open for another 10 days.

And bugger that anyway, I'm talking about the themeing. I'm judging decorators and architects here, not the cleaning squad.

But oh well, sorry your experience wasn't that great.

I could swear I saw photos of barges already reclaiming the bay. That could have been the barges that had just finished the Disneyland site, but it looked to me like they were going ahead with the second reclamation area. And why not? I'm sure they've got a 2nd gate deal, and since the barges were there doing the first project, it's easier to keep them on, and more cost effective. Plus, if the land sits for a while, it will give it time to stabilize.

Yes, we stayed at the DLH in October 2001 and were given a lovely room with a patio outside - we had a view of Phantom Manor and the building of the studios. Because it was the back end of the DLH i.e. only the people staying in the rooms could see it, the paint was peeling in big chunks, some of them about the price of CD's. Also the TV/Radio speaker in the bathroom did not work properly. And the service was ok, but I found the service in the Hotel New York to be much better.

When I'm paying top dollar for a hotel experience, I don't expect these issues.
