Poor casting there. and the shots of the Tomorrowland Speedway look like they could have been a local park. and people wonder why I think the MK is the worst of it's kind. Ughhhhh. Hope after all the refurbing, things get better. Though frankly I doubt it.

Originally Posted By Mr X ***And not wanting to be unkind, but Tink was very chunky. Poor casting there*** I dunno...could just be a bad picture (her arms are crossed, and she's obviously not posing, and I don't see any "obvious" fat chunks anywhere in particular). Anyway, what do you care? You claim you don't care about toons anyway, so why the worry about the casting? And yeah, that *is* pretty unkind in any case. The image of Tinkerbell is an unrealistic, unhealthy, undeveloped and fairly anorexic one anyway. Just today I showed Little X a picture of an old (female) friend of mine who is now morbidly obese, and her first reaction was one of disgust. I chided her, and explained that sometimes people gain weight without intending too, and sometimes they are working very hard to lose weight, and sometimes it's due to a medical condition, and that it's not nice to make fun of people for their weight or appearance in any case. She seemed to understand pretty well (and the friend in question is well over 300 pounds now, and quite short, hardly the stuff we're discussing so I should digress because it's a different story).

Originally Posted By Mr X I know what you mean, but as I said in my opening paragraph I think it might just be a bad picture. Trust me, I have HUNDREDS of bad pictures with face characters (both in and out of uniform...some VERY out if you know what I mean lollollol), if you catch them in the wrong light or whatever they can all look like dogs. And I've got pictures of them in the morning with no makeup, too. Yikes! (Mrs. X has seen each and every picture, by the way...no worries on that front!) So anyway, I get your point, I'm just saying maybe it's not as obvious as it seems. On the issue of poor casting, I've seen a blond haired, blue eyed girl playing Pocahontas in TDL and she looked ridiculous. I also know for a fact that a gorgeous Japanese woman who is the spitting image of Pocahontas was roundly rejected by the Japanese casting team (a bunch of idiots, obviously), and not only did she look the part, but spoke English perfectly and sang like an angel AND was later cast to play Pocahontas in DisneyWorld. So, it's not without precedent assuming that was *just* a bad picture. Also, I've seen a Mexican Snow White, and a homosexual Prince Charming. Seriously.

I don't want to get into a whole debate on morbid obesity because I have it in my family and lost someone very close to me because of it. I also have someone else that will likely die way too soon because he can't/won't do anything about it. So ... I tend to have very little tolerance for people who make excuses for that t ype of person because they likely wouldn't be so tolerant if the abuser was using addicted to crack or heroin or Rush pills or online porn or booze or gambling or etc ... overeating kills. And while kids (like that beautiful Little X!) should be brought up to respect all people and not be hurtful, I think they should also be brought up with healthy lifestyles and taught that obesity is a bad thing and that those people need help. Back to the character front, but I also had issues with seeing some obviously Asian folks playing 'face' characters like princesses and Santa at HKDL (can't recall whether TDR had them too or not). Why does this bring back memories of the Boston Legal episode where a black girl sued because she wasn't picked to play 'Annie'? I don't expect to go into a Hooters and get a job, btw! ;-)

I think if they actually hire a straight one he must be abused all the time! ;-)
