Disneyland goes all out in ALL the lands (except Tomorrowland for mysterious reasons), and decorates every land in theme-appropriate decor for Christmas. And that parkwide Christmas concept has spread to DCA too, decorating not just Buena Vista Street but also Cars Land, Bugs Land, Paradise Pier, and now Mad T Party.

What do they have against decorating the entire park at WDW???

And one other question... why the heck is there a model of a circa 1968 Turboliner train on the Christmas tree at the circa 1905 train station?

    The 1960's decoration on the 1905 tree... <a href="http://www.laughingplace.com/Showpic.asp?filename=http://s231432788.onlinehome.us/lotion/pics/SS20121115-WDWHoliday-MK/big/P09-4.JPG&caption=" target="_blank">http://www.laughingplace.com/S...caption=</a>

    The inspiration for it???... <a href="http://hebners.net/Amtrak/amtTurbos/amt153a.jpg" target="_blank">http://hebners.net/Amtrak/amtT...153a.jpg</a>

Tokyo Disney Resort changes its decorations and they are AMAZING. The Japanese do Christmas decorating so much better.

I think the WDW Xmas Department are either lazy or underpaid - you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

But I wasn't going to mention it, as I thought I was already being quite critical in my first post. ;-)

There's a giant chasm of difference in the way WDW decorates their parks for Christmas compared to Disneyland and Tokyo Disneyland. Very odd how that works.

The percentage I heard was huge. So that's why many thigs remain unchanged. They don't need to (new Fantasyland area aside). Parks in places like CA and Tokyo have many more repeat visitors day to day, so they have to change things more frequently and in a bigger way to keep people excited.

But it's not a good enough excuse.

That excuse basically states that people living east of the Rockies are less sophisticated and dumber, with lower standards for beauty and design, than their counterpart Disney fans on the West Coast or in Japan. That excuse just doesn't fly with me.

    Well... :)

Or maybe they just don't care. Seriously, outside the handful obsessed with monitoring every minute detail most people probably just don't notice these kinds of things. Frankly I wouldn't know the difference between the decorations at any given Disney park from one year to the next and I'm a die-hard Disney park fan.

I know there are Billions of people on this planet that are worried about their next meal and living to see tomorrow, but my God man, if you can't get worked up over inaccurate Christmas tree decorations in a corny theme park in a Florida swamp, why even bother getting up in the morning?!?

    Oh, on second thought.... ;-)

Perhaps one reason why the parks tend to be under decorated for the Christmas season is that in terms of WDW, there are more parks, and WDW has all those resorts to decorate. My experience is that the same team of decorators go around decorating resorts. Not sure if it is the same group decorating the parks. If the ornaments were swapped out each year, then that would be an expensive endeavor. I know since WDW has been repeatedly cutting staffing for years now. This isn't going to happen.

I'm not saying I agree with this.... just saying perhaps this is what is going on.
