Or maybe some people prefer that sort of thing? Amazing how you are attacking someone for stating their opinion. I personally would not pay to do an event like that as it is a gimmick, but I am not going to judge someone who does enjoy that sort of thing...

Also Antartica does look really cool...

If character dance parties, crappy one-night merchandise, and extended park hours is what's rocking fanboys' summers now a days, then God help us. Disney is capable of much more..but whatever, small "events" for small minds. I aim higher and expect a multi billion dollar entertainment company to do the same.

A friend from NYC said that her frustration was that by the time this was announced she had paid for her hotel, plane tickets, etc and couldn't change any of it. She missed it by a day and wished Disney had announced earlier. At WDW especially I think they need to announce these things early enough for people to make plans to get there. I think it is one of the biggest challenges (among other) of the limited magic promotion is that it is great if you already have plans to be here but not so good if you don't. Isn't the idea of a promotion to bring people in?

I see why there would be interest in this from die hard fans. I had several friends who went. They seemed to enjoy it but honestly no one has been raving about the experience. It seemed like a lot of work and money and a burden on CM's who are starting the busy summer season for what kind of payoff?

As for the 24 hours "event" being just "1-day" and not the only event at WDW... BIG DEAL. They have been serving the same old tired events at WDW for at least a decade, with little new attributes or change to motivate me and others who are just as discriminating as me to pass up on them.

Yet. Some people feel that opening the park for 24 hours is the second re-incarnation of the Universe. Now that's laughable. Sorry.

Want a real "SPECIAL EVENT" schedule.. look no further than TDR and their 4-8 special events PER YEAR, distrubuted evently between their two parks. Now THAT's SPECIAL!! (and no extra $$ required to enjoy them). Or even look at the nicer little things they have done at DLR for the Limited Time promotions.. while WDW serves character greetings as an excuse for limited magic.

Bottom line is, WDW's management should be ashamed of themselves for being so clueless and CHEAP while charging astronomical prices to gullible guests, and even more accountable for holding fans by their pelotas under such misleading "event" labels. Fun soirees at the park are well FUN, but "events" they are NOT.

It can still amaze because the entire resort is a lot to experience. I think WDW tends to focus on the seasonal holidays for success. Flower & Garden Wine&Dine Summer Concert StarWars Weekends Halloween and the Holidays Keeps it entertaining... WDW had to create the meetngreet FP experience to get the long lines off the streets. People love to stand in line for an autograph .( I just saw a child's purple sweatshirt for sale at the Wilderness Lodge with the Princess signatures all across the back and wished it was my size ) And I saw a lot of families playing the new cgi interactive games. The Pirate version looked fun when I saw the canyon explode and a treasure chest appear out of the water. So yeah I get that it can be entertaining. I was sad to see the new Big Thunder interactive area closed early in the morn when I walked thru the line . So it is weird to go all the time and want to experience the same things over and over again and the challenge is to find something new or different every time. But I always Do manage to find something magical and always leave knowing I forgot to re-experience something and need to go back.

Extremly high expectations? Obviously you have never been to Tokyo Disney Resort. If they can exceed my expectations there, SURELY they could do the same at WDW, but they don't because they don't care about their "show" anymore. And for the record.. TDL has the WORST EVER fireworks of ANY Disney park, so NO, I don't need pyro going off every hour. In fact, I have always stated publicly that fireworks is what WDW does better than any other resort so I'm completely happy with that aspect of the park.

But you Donny (related to Marie by chance?) stated this quite well.. "the 24 hours period at the time WAS FUN", just like any regular day at the MK I would think. THAT is the problem. Why not make it EXTRA special for those few hours? If Tokyo can afford to do TWO very distinctive summer events that will last over three months in their parks...surely WDW could handle something special at one park for the entire summer run. BUT they are CHEAP, and guests like you and I are not worth their effort, hence, the same old caca we get year after year.

And THAT's my point which you will never agree with because you are happy with character meets and kiddy dance parties in the park it seems.

While I'm sure it's not quite as expensive as some of Tokyo's temporary proportions, I really do wonder how much the Limited Time Magic stuff is costing. Some of it is fairly elaborate, and even the modest stuff requires a few dozen CMs to run. By constantly changing what's going on, there's a pretty high overhead to create each 'event' (if we can call them that) before they ever make it into the parks.

And for what benefit? Few guests actually see these things (the capacity of a meet and greet is only a few dozen groups per hour), and few see them advertised anywhere. The Limited Time Magic stuff is only promoted on the Disney Parks Blog, not even in the parks, so I really just have to question their strategy.

Are you serious? I consider you an intelligent Disney fan. You *know* their Limited Time Magic efforts are costing peanuts. Don't allow yourself to be insulted by the limited pixie dust.

    >>>And for what benefit? Few guests actually see these things<<<

EXACTLY!!! Because they know this is a non-existent effortless excuse to amuse the fan boys online, they are not throwing money at it. Tokyo on the other hand, revels into putting on events that will bring even the least likely of Disney fans into their parks which is why they advertise all over the city and in trains, shopping venues..etc etc.

WDW equals "it's all about the money", and because this is not advertised widely, they bank on the lack of guests' knowledge to get away with cheap crap.
