As we've said before, we didn't like Under New Management, either, because Iago ruins anything he's a part of. But at least some of the new songs were nice to hear.

ORWEN: The whole reason the original Tiki Room show was replaced with an updated version is because guests back in the mid-90's didn't like it that much. They either walked out in the middle of the show or didn't bother to show up at all. Cast members used to hold counters at the turnstyles to count the number of guests who came to watch. They were telling us, at the time, that the show was on its last legs because it wasn't enough of a draw. It'll be interesting to see if guests of a new century like it any better.

Couldn't help but notice repeated references to "the Sunshine Pavilion" (the original name used when the sponsors were the Florida Orange Growers), as well as the use of "Tropical Serenade" (the original name of the attraction). Clyde and Claude also sound like old school voices.

Something I am pretty sure is new are the drums heard as the audience enters the theater. These are identical to the ones added to the lanai at Disneyland for the 2005 refurbishment.

I have always approved of the cuts to the DLR version-- even though I am supposedly a purist. But it helps the pacing immeasurably. I can barely bear to watch the Country Bears in the MK, because their show is so slow and random. It could stand some tightening up!

They obviously did a minimal job in restoring the production. Too bad about the fountain. I see that the lead birds also did not get new sound systems, as they did in the DLR. (The tip off is the new "flower baskets" at each of the four corners, hanging above each host bird. The bases hold a new speaker array. But not in the MK.)

On last request for the powers that be at the MK. Please, for the love of all that is Disney, do something about this:

It's those rhinestones, glued to the orchids. Get rid of 'em! Talk about gilding the lilly...

Clyde and Claude (or Claude and Clyde) were Dallas McKennon and Sebastian Cabot.

Sebastian Cabot would tell us to "Have a good show...a real Tropical Serenade!" and the drums would begin. I was elated to hear the original, un-touched New-Year's-Eve-in-the-Orange-Grove intro, as this was an important touch of sonic atmosphere in Adventureland for over two decades. The gongs, animal calls, and other screams and bellows would spill out onto the promendade in front of Pirates and Jungle Cruise and combine with other sounds (the faint Swisskapolka in the distance) to create the Adventureland vibe--something that has been missing since the "new" Adventureland debuted with Aladdin and the New Management show.

    The gods are pleased!

I was hoping someone would rely to this. My guess is that the drums from the MK were brought over to the refurb of the DLR version. They are a good addition.

I had forgot the original pre-show so that was a treat. I would have like to see a minor rewrite of the show to include the Tiki Goddess in the center. She could easily show up in the storm scene when the gods have been angered by all the celebrating.

I am going out to see it this week. My daughter saw it on Friday and said it was better than New Mgmt but felt there were too many cuts from the original show. She liked the shortened length but felt adding back a couple of minutes would have been better.

A two show wait for this show is a clear sign to management, honeymoon or not.
