Story telling should be what Disney excels in it seems they missed that here. That said, I'd love to see what they could do with this technology on Spaceship Earth.

Also, it looks like a screen is used on the front of the castle on the balcony over the entryway and seems to be transparent. Is this there during the day? And if so, is it very noticeable? I definitely could see this technology used elsewhere. Space Mountain seems to be a natural for it. Possibly even for a new Illuminations at EPCOT where it could update the projections used around World Showcase and on Spaceship Earth. Even the BAH in the Studios could benefit by it someday. But, something tells me that this could be a way to host or be part of a nighttime event at DAK without fireworks if they ever choose to do it. Everest could be a good backdrop for this in conjunction with other light displays throughout the park.

I guess the desire for 5 minutes of fame is worth less than a second when placed on the castle. The giant monitor in the sky...weren't we forewarned about that future in WallE?

Originally Posted By Doobie <<< Is it repeated similar to the castle lighting shows or just once as part of the Fireworks? >>> It is not a part of the fireworks. It'll run on nights without fireworks and according to the press release will sometimes run twice per night. It will also not necessarily immediately precede the fireworks when it does run. It is meant to be a separate show. <<< How did the show look in person?? Is it even more impressive and did it seem to "Wow" the crowd?? >>> I've talked to quite a few people who've seen it in person and the consensus reaction seems to be "it's much better than I expected." Pretty much everyone also says it would be better without the guest photos. They don't make it worse, they just don't really add anything. It's also difficult to see most of them to the point of making anything out and they go quickly and more than one at a time, so I doubt all that many people would recognize themselves anyway. I saw it yesterday, it's first public performance. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. A few WOW moments and a solid (but I wouldn't call it thunderous) applause at the end. Personally I was underwhelmed. It just never translated to anything more than watching a movie on a Castle for me. But I'm the only person I've talked to that feels that way so I tend to thing that's my issue. I also have never been able to see those Magic Eye pictures, so maybe it's related Doobie.

It's not as much of a 'show' as this, but it's more general area theming. It doesn't come out as well in videos, due to the low light, but it does a very good job of transforming the appearance of the mountain. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...UDNB7sWU One of the downsides of the technology is that it seems to shift over time, so the edges of the projection don't line up perfectly with the edges of the building, so it needs to be adjusted a lot. It's nothing major, but it is distracting when the shapes don't really line up right. DL has problems with that for the fireworks and Christmas projections on Small World, so I really hope they can keep it steady for the nightly shows that they're now advertising.
