That is really amazing too. Although it doesn't nessecarily add a lot to the ride, it certainly leaves you with that "How'd they do that?" feeling. I remember when my cousins first went on TOT, that was all they were talking about. And it sure got me interested!

While MGM's 5th dimention not only moves the story along but also shows this is no normal elevator by going forward! Plus DCA's lighting in the bolier room makes it look cartoony and the blank hallway to the elevator car should have never been made. Now I know there are some people that find DCA's better, I don't know why but they just do. But id TDS's tower gives you a ride as good as it's theming, it will truly put DCA's to shame and maybe even be as good as MGM's. Quite possibly even top it!

Yeah it was interesting that the elevator moved forward, but it clanged and squeeked and shuttered as it did. When it moved in and out of the drop shafts its felt like it was bumping over the gap. That all kinda ruined the effect. I will admit though its pretty cool to see videos of the testing of the elevator moving around without a track.

The 5th dimension room is just plain tacky and it ruins the suspense as you clunk into the drop shaft. I must prefer the sudden drop of DCA's version. I always felt it didn't lend itself to the story. We aren't supposed to feel that this is some strange elevator that can move horizontally. Even in the Twilight Zone.

I always thought it would be better if the movement was smoother, quieter and maybe if the car rocked back and forth in a way similar to the Jolly Trolly. It is supposed to be floating through the 5th dimension, right? Leemac: I'm so glad you noticed the clunk into the drop shaft too.

A couple summers ago I chatted with Matt Ouimett outside the exit of DCA's TOT. He was waiting (and waiting and waiting) there while OLC staff rode and rode and rode DCA's TOT, looking for ways to improve the total ride experience. You get what you're willing to pay for.

The theme has only been changed out of necessity too. OLC were keen to transport it directly from the US. Thankfully WDI were smart enough to realize that the Twilight Zone just wasn't a recognizable product in Japan.

Originally Posted By leemac <<I get the idea that this attraction is going to have a much more of a walk through/lead up effect than any other TOT attraction to date....>> I wouldn't necessarily say much more but ToT has been designed as a walking tour with a guide from the Restoration Society. However the library scene is absent and Harrison Hightower's study in its place. It isn't significantly longer from that point to the attraction itself.
