Originally Posted By FerretAfros It looked like the chase was fun (although I don't think I've ever seen a character move that fast), and then the lady just sort of pushed him. Then, since the costumes block vision and are hard to move in anyway, he just sort of slipped off the curb. It looked like he was playing, since when he got stopped, it was like he was asking her where the kid went. Judging from the sound, it sounds like she was yelling at him, and then he turned away (since that isn't the best situation for a non-speaking character to be in) and she wanted to get his attention back. I don't know if she meant to make him fall, but she certainly did. I really like how Pluto did a good job of getting up and showing that he didn't touch either the lady or the kid, and check to see if other people saw it, before getting the heck out of there.
Originally Posted By Pirate Shiva It really looks as if it was all in fun, the little guy didn't seem to be too upset and the way that Pluto originally gestured with his hands and looked around as if to say, "Where did he go?" implies this. The lady also does not appear to have pushed Pluto, it looks like more of a timing issue where she touched him when he was off balance. There certainly was not much force behind it.

Originally Posted By Pirate Shiva I don't know if the video shows enough to make a valid assumption one way or the other. I have to agree with FerretAfros that I don't think I have ever seen a character move quite that fast but I also downloaded the video and was viewing it with a viewer that allowed me to view it in a larger window and almost frame by frame. When the woman stops Goofy, the young man continues on a circular path that shows him walking slowly and nonchalantly back towards the same lady. He doesn't appear to be clingy or scared. About that time another, younger woman shows up in the bottom left of the screen with a slightly younger child dressed just about the same. If this is the running boy's mother, she doesn't look very upset either. To me, the fact that Goofy stayed in character right up until he fell says more than what is not showing. I also think Pluto is asking, "Did you see what SHE did?" not he.

I wonder how often there are confrontations between guests and the characters.

The video appears to be from a while ago since the light polls have gold on them.

Rude guest are a common thing at Disneyland.

And, of course, the parents probably weren't looking or they fail to discipline thier children (like most parents nowadays). #3 - The lady that stopped him was visibly upset at him for chasing that kid..but she shouldn't have pushed him (very slightly), but enough to cause him to lose his balance off the curb. This just shows a lack of respect for someone (especially when your in a hot costume and you can't see very well.) The guy/girl in the Pluto costume should learn by now that when you work with the public, your going to get rude people and mean kids...if he can't handle this, he's in the wrong line of work. He should have just walked offstage and demanded a CM to assist him as soon as he felt like the situation was going to far..but never should have chased him around like that. I agree with Mr. F, that is definitely a safety hazard.

I've watched this 20+ times and while I agree with some of your observations and am not sure why Pluto made that little hop, he was not as close to the boy as what the angle of the video suggests. We can guess all we want but, the truth is, it's still a guess.

A character should never be running around in that manner. Who knows! One thing for sure is that Pluto was ticked off.
