Traffice is diverted to EPCOT which has the largest parking lot. Guests are encouraged to go to EPCOT but can monorail to the MK. The next phase if I remember correctly is the park is closed to guests entering for the first time, but if they have used their park hopper then they can gain entry I also believe hotel guests can enter. The next phase is only hotel guests (or is it someone who is park hopping?) can gain entry into the park. Phase 4 is when no one can enter the park at all. Usually this happens for a couple of hours during the busiest time of the day. Eventually guest leave to park hop or head to their hotel and the gates reopen. The in park for a Phase 4 closing at the MK is somewhere in the high 60's, mid 70's. But I can be off on that. Now when the EPCOT parking lot closes...thats an UGLY day.

So, that 90K figure might be pretty accurate. It was exciting at midnight but thoroughly miserable most of the day. People say in front of the castle as early as 2:00pm to wait for midnight. If you weren't in front of the castle by 6:00pm you were out of luck.

Tokyo Disneyland has a capacity of around 80,000 and the park has closed its' doors an average of around twice a week for the past several months (DisneySea next door has hit capacity often as well). I guess I don't get what the big deal is. ?? I suppose it's good news for the economy, maybe? Hope so! Wouldn't want to be there though, if it was so crowded (I ALWAYS avoid TDL on crowded days but that's getting harder and harder these days lol). ***People say in front of the castle as early as 2:00pm to wait for midnight. If you weren't in front of the castle by 6:00pm you were out of luck.*** To continue on my "neener neener, my park is more miserably crowded than yours" schtick (er...yeah, it's NOT really a good thing lol), try waiting several days. Seriously. They do. For new years. Several DAYS ("waiting for rock concert ticket" style, on the sidewalk, with blankets, the whole 9 yards). But I had a front row seat for nearly every one of the countdowns this past decade without a wait at all.

But none the less having these folks there is better than not. But I wonder what the long term plan is to get people into the parks. For about 5 years they have been giving away stuff. But I wounder if a smarter long term stratagy would be to actually roll back prices? Not a special deal, but actual lower prices. The days of folks charging a $5K trip on the credit cards is over, with the 30% interest rates that the credit card companies are charging these days. I also wonder what the impact of the Waldorf and 4Seasons will have on the Deluxes. The Waldorf has rooms starting at $279/night.
