The regular salad (as well as soup) is $9, which is certainly pricey anyway, but $16 is for the lobster salad which is a horse of a different color (and not surprising given that a regular dish of rabbit food runs nine bucks!).

    rotfl.

Personally, I never understood the appeal of that place. It's just not exotic enough compared to other World Showcase offerings (it's freakin CANADA we're talking about, they should've just set up a beer hall with a maple desserts cart and left it at that lol).

And anyone looking for a steakhouse at a hefty price might as well just stroll 15 minutes away to Shula's at the Dolphin anyway.

As a matter of fact, the google reveals that a dinner at Shula's is pretty much comparable to Epcot's Canada place, and in some respects even CHEAPER.

    <a href="http://swandolphinmeetings.com/menus/restaurant_menus/shulas" target="_blank">http://swandolphinmeetings.com...s/shulas</a>

    Wow.

    Who knew!?

Gotta wear a jacket though. That's a deal breaker for the Florida crowds lol.

It is/was my fav restaurant in World Showcase as where I live, the only that are truly exotic to us (e.g. hard to get food like it) are San Angel and Le Cellier. My little town has food comparable with almost all the other table service (save Germany, but there are German places a little further afield).

But it is rediculously popular, and for the prices, food wise I would prefer Shula (and I am ok wearing a jacket to the parks), but it does not have the same ambiance.

    But you're calling everything Shula's.

If you've dined at Shula's, I'd love to hear what you thought of the place!

As far as "exotic", seriously the only places of interest are Canada and Mexico?

Yikes...Mexico, I can understand (hard to find decent Mexican food in Japan to say the least, though surprisingly easy in Okinawa). But Canadian? Exotic?

I LIVED in Canada for half a year and the most exotic thing I ever saw there was sushi.

They HAVE no "special cuisine" or anything remotely interesting as far as dining unless you count deer hunting.

Okay, so if I'm getting this right you think the food is better at Shula's (I certainly would say the menu is a million times more interesting, anyway...can't speak for the food as I've never dined there and in Canada Epcot, only once and it was "okay"), but the ambiance is better in the Canadian cave at Epcot?

I'm wondering why "ambiance" is always theme related with you, bro. Can't you enjoy a "regular" restaurant once in a while?

    Signed,

    Devil's Advocate X ;)

And yes, it is something we cannot get (I have only seen Cheddar Cheese soup at LC, making it at home has not been the same - don't know if shipping the cheese makes a difference, just like the French Epcot restaurants do not have the same tastes as real French restaurants; I've never seen prezel bread in the UK either; the berries they had in the cobbler are not common in the UK either - in fact there are very few places to get North American pie in Europe). so yes, for us, it is. I live in Europe, so most of WS is not exotic. Although I love Nine Dragons and Teppan Edo, we have loads of places like them, and in my town we have many restaurants like Marrakech. The real difference is the decore and where applicable, the entertainment (of course that is quite rare, though we can find similar in the cities).

so World Showcase is not so much about trying new things for us (unless in Mexico or Canada).

If you were a real American, it wouldn't be. :p

Besides, what would you expect from a restaurant run by Don Shula, anyway?

How was the FOOD? (I would love to know, because on my next trip to Florida I just might bring along a jacket just for that purpose!)

since I eat in restaurants 8-10 times a week, I don't travel 3000 or 6000 miles for just a restaurant. ambience and service matter. If I was at home for meals every night and on a rota a la Simpsons, I would have a different view.

But I became a Disney/Casino/theme park fan precisely for the theming.

It was ok, nothing THAT special to be honest. I have had better in a Marriott, and I have had worse many places too.

But for pricing on WDW, it was very good.

And I'd take that over a "big steak" any day.

soup for lunch is 6.99 - 20% TIW = 5.60 about the same price as a bowl of soup in a decent ( not great) Chicago restaurant -- so be it

the dinner menu items are steep but again watching the proices in my favorite Chi town resturants rise seeminlg monthly right now( and gas now clearing $4.09 a gallon ) none of this stuns me.

my favorite steakhouse in my suburb ( not the most expensive btw) - menu

I will be in Indy in 5 weeks and I always eat at the Shula's there-- amience is 70's chic ( LOL !)- but the food and lobster bisque are very good...

but put together a nice steak, potato and some asparagus on the side ( as all sides run another $4-$7 each and you've got $75-$80 without batting an eye.

I guess I could get a 'wholemeal' at Ponderosa for the family as I've read here for some comparison hyperbole- but then it's not the same.

I am pissed that prices continue to rise everywhere on everything and salaries are stagnant and taxes increasing... it stinks.

but unless some people live somewhere where prices are not rising, I cannot see the 'outrage' -

I am paying $4.59/gallon for premium today ( $4.09 regular) - ( In Japan and UK that would be a deal, but sucks here and is up about 30% since late in 2010. Grocery prices have risen here 9% in 2010 - one year ! Drive thru Mcd's and pay almost $7 with tax for a meal ?

things are crazy and nowhere is immune-
