Being at the parks typically you would spend 1 usually 2 if not even 3 "meal periods" within the park so statistically your needs are far greater than they'd be if you went to a football game...

Even though the prices are still reasonable here for the Astros, I choose to stay in the comfort of my own home, where the only drunk around is me. How bad of a commute do you have to Wrigley Field? I bet if you had to fly there you would want more than three hours of entertainment!

Originally Posted By dshyates "I bet it cost less than $200 though." Per Person for a family of 4. Thats $800 before you get there, $630/night for a 3-star, $32 for a steak a la carte, $8 for a beer. Then throw in $1200 for park Admission. I'll drive the family down, spend $219/night at a real 4-Star, $400 on Uni park admission, and spend that $35 on a filet at Ruth's Chris, or Emeril's. Please don't pity me for having to slum it like that, we will suffer through.

I know some here want things to be really expensive because they think it will make WDW a bit more exclusive. But Disney needs the middle class dollars or they wouldn't be continually expanding their value offers. Mine are middle class dollars and no way am I ever paying 8 bucks for a beer or 40 bucks for a steak. I wait to eat somewhere else and just snack in the parks.we only splurge for 2 or 3 meals in parks. While these prices may not seem steep in certain parts of country, I can tell you for certain that in the south they are. My solution is this. In the expensive places charge what you want in those resorts or restaurants. Those patrons will most likely be willing to pay more anyway to maintain their exclusiveness and to keep the riff-raff like me out. But offer less expensive options for the rest of us. Surely Disney would rather me eat in the park at a lesser price than force me to go off property. Stop giving away the dining plan and they may be surprised at their margins when everyone is paying. Sadly there is a whole sub-culture being created to find ways to save money at Disney and to avoid their high prices.

Hewlett Packard announcd a 5% accross the board pay cut. And 401(k) matches are toast also. As the race to the bottom picks up speed fewer and fewer will be able to afford luxuries.
