Plus we seem to over look the quality here. There's a little place called Bill's Fried Chicken in Corsican Texas. They have some of the best Chicken, and Catfish you could find any where. They also have a mini-cafateria there. You can get I meat 2 vegetables, dinner rolls, and dessert, and a drink for around $10. It's not in WDW, but it has better food than 99% of the dining establishments in WDW. That's exit 231 on I-45 folks.

Order the $32 steak, add a $9 salad (and since they don't have prices for side listed) add an appetizer (average cost $10). You're already at $51 without tax and you still haven't added a Coke or iced tea, let alone a glass of wine or dessert. How in the world can you (or anyone at TDO) justify those prices?

I've never paid $12 for a Coke and I never will ... even if I have billions some day. Hawaii? Been there numerous times. I may have paid $4-5 for a Coke at a bar ... maybe. And I thought that was too much. (so I poured the bar snacks in my pants!)

But it isn't a Brown Derby or Wendy's situation. You can get a great reasonably priced steak a few miles off property. As for Wendy's, I'll jump in the car and head over there before I drop a 20 down at the Electric Umbrella for two people. I can leave that kind of magic in my rearview any day!

The price of the Steak will probably go up by the time you make it there.

I can leave that kind of magic in my rearview any day! < on that part I will agree with you- I do not do counter service @ WDW. Again I didn't travel there for a generic burger... Part of my vacation is sitting down to a table service- take 90 minutes plus to relax nice dinner in WDW. I do not want to travel off the grounds at that point - I want to sit back - soak up the atmosphere once a year... and enjoy. It's family time- or sometimes just my wife and I - a time to really enjoy where we are and why we go there. If I'm gettingouged some compared to what I can get in Orlando proper - so be it. I hate to break it to you but if not for WDW I would not vacation to Orlando.... I want low hassle flow between parks and dining and swimming and golf or whatever else I do. There are some great golf courses outside of WDW there also - but not why I am in WDW. If I just want to golf I'll go to the Carolina's Again, not trying to be a Disney apologist - and yes even with the DDE card I recognize the increases - now I do have to confess to a hot dog with kraut at Casey's every year- it's kind of a tradition....not even sure why after decades of this.

And if you do, you certainly don't have to give your money to their food and beverage locations. You won't melt away like the wicked witch (her name was Cynthia) if you drive out onto 535.

I'm doing the whole trip for less tha $2K. Disney for he same amount of time at a 4 star would be at least $4500 for the 3 of us. So we will just have to suffer throught DC at the Marriott and slouchy entertainment like a play at The Kennedy Center instead.
