I know that most entertainment can be expensive. I have just decided that in the future I will only pay for quality. If a product seems way to overpriced for me, then I will move on to greener pastures. Women definetly seem to be better at this than most men. They look for bargains, and purchase things when they are on sale. Men have to train themselves not to be an impulse buyer. At least I did. Price has never been that important to me until we move into the 5 figure, and up range. That is fixing to change.

I really think that is becoming more of the trend these days. At least with independent thinking men.

Some folks are just like that. If it makes them happy, more power. I know my father always had to have something to do, as well as my father-in-law. I'm a little different. I feel you have to cultivate being lazy. I feel it has become a fine art to me. Almost a Zen like transformation.

be glad you don't live in Chicago then - think of our sports teams - all with some of the most expensive tickets anywhere...

    Blackhawks- last Stanley Cup 1961
White Sox - 1 World Series champ in 90 years
    Cubs - 0 for the 1900's
    Bears - 2 World Champs since 1963
Bulls- take out the Michael Jordan era and they are horrific...
but they have been the most successful
    Cubs - 2

Yes, yes I have. I just priced the Grand at $630/night, and I can get THIS Kids Suite for $479/night. It has a kids room connected to a two room executive suite (click the Executive suite tabbed to get an idea the size of the 3 rooms together wold be.) That also gives you 3 32" HD LCD TVs in your suite.

A box seat in the early 70's ran $3.50, and parking was a buck. You can still get tickets for a reasonable price for baseball, and our Hockey team the Aeros, but everything else is starting to go up. I really prefer to watch the games from the comfort of my own house now.

they have four levels of games now - and each seat has 4 levels of prices -- it's insane

so lets say I take my family of 4 to the Cubs-Cardinals game- bleachers and somehow I am lucky enough to get them on line on Feb 20 ( with a zillion other people)--

    4 bleacher seats $240 + $12 each for fees = $288. Parking $15 ( after an hour drive) - 1 hot dog each @ $5 2 beers each adults @ $8 each and 2 sodas each @ $4 for the kids

$367 and really we've done nothing

average Bulls ticket - good seats - not great $80 - same for Hawks - Bears $85-$105

    for 3 hours of entertaiment

No, if one lives in Davenport, Iowa- the prices likely seem horrendous...agreed.

But look at what one Cubs game costs me- and that's not livin' the high life of even having a reserved seat - I could stand at that price - for 3 hours of entertainment. So when I look at that and WDW prices for a full day - I am not ready to slit my wrists like some.
Prices for walk up type food also the same- and quality no better - both suck.

Now I admit it's probably going to be for a lesser team, certainly not for a rivaly like you're talking about VBDAD, but it's got an affordable price tag. There is very affordable entertainment to be had in this part of the country. I plan on discovering more of it in the future.
