The water park is a good idea if they really want to keep people on their property for longer. And sure, I like mini-golf and would no doubt enjoy playing a highly themed course. But only the HP additions would have me particularly excited, personally. And yeah, both Disney and Uni overhype themselves all the time, but I do think you have to give Uni the edge in both degree and frequency. I mean, when the Mummy coaster came out, they really made it sound like the greatest themed coaster ever, and it isn't anything close to that. That's the one where there was probably the biggest gap between hype and reality, but there have been others. Disney tends to overhype not on "biggest, greatest" (unless something is, like the scale of the water show of WOC), and more on "it's so magical, you'll laugh, you'll cry..."

For the most part Disney doesn't market their new attractions with as much adrenaline inducing adjectives as Universal does. Whatever... it's all good. And as I said apparently it works for Universal. "What's your hang up with the Spiderman quote? It is one of the greatest rides in theme park history, is it not?" Well so is Star Tours, but Disney doesn't make that claim when they talk about the redo. Universal obviously has a different way of marketing and I personally don't care for it. Like I said before the hyped language they use is cheesy.

I'd rather have huge, real immersive sets (ala Pirates, Haunted Mansion, etc) than movie screens. Maybe it's just me, but Spidey is just "ok" and gets much too much hype for what its actually worth.

I may have to venture to Hollywood after it opens there.

Then you've been tricked by some real theme park magic because Spidey DOES have "real immersive sets" and quite large ones! It is not all just movie screens. There are quite a few set pieces you move through. Obviously you were so affected by it you didn't even realize you were moving through ACTUAL locations! Just goes to show even more how GREAT this attraction is!

Whether a particular person likes it or not, the general consensus is that Spidey is a great attraction. What I most dislike in this whole line of conversation is the relentless emphasis on comparison. Uni does something egregious, one of us calls it, and we are immediately informed that Disney does it worse. Or, Uni comes up with something great, and it is immediately cited as not just great, but greater than anything Disney has ever done. Can't we appreciate or criticize what they do on their own merits?

It's seamless! I have to agree with the few posters above me, Spider-man and Forbidden Journey are far and away the two best rides on the planet at this time. Only a few Disney rides make it into the same stratosphere with them, namely Indiana Jones, Tower of Terror, Haunted Mansion, SSE, and Splash Mountain.

He couldn't stop gushing about the attraction, and for good reason. It's simply one of the best ever done for any theme park, anywhere.

Spider-Man set the stage in 1999, then Forbidden Journey advanced the technology further when it opened last year. And I've heard from a couple of industry professionals that Transformers will raise the bar even higher, when it opens next year. Where the heck is Disney? Why aren't we getting new leading edge E-Tickets like this from WDI? And no, I don't have much hope for Radiator Springs Racers. It's essentially Test Track with a Cars wrapper. The first part of the ride inside the show building might prove more interesting that Test Track, but I doubt it will be as impressive as Spider-Man or Forbidden Journey. Full-size talking cars? *yawn*

I doubt it, as like you said it's basically Test Track. But the better theming and AAs will make it one of the best Disney rides going.

But I feel that Universal has come closer to living up to the hype over the past ten years than WDW has. If WDW was building attractions of the quality of Tower, and Indiana Jones Adventure, and Splash, then I would think they have every right to boast and hype their product. But when their offering is Stitch's Great Escape or the Nemo ride or a new meet-and-greet, then I have to laugh at their bombastic language.
