NAHEIM, Calif. (KFSN) -- Disney's California Adventure Park is getting rid of one of its thrill rides. The Maliboomer tower, which shoots riders 180 feet up in the air in four seconds and then drops them, is being removed next month. A park spokesperson says the ride doesn't fit in with the new vision for the Paradise Pier area that is currently under renovation. The new architectural theme is "a return to the romance and charm of California's oceanfront playgrounds of the early 1900s." If you want to ride the Maliboomer again before it's taken down, you'd better act fast. The last day of operation will be September 6. Disney is the parent company of ABC30.

I won't miss that ride. I've been on it a few times, and may have to do it just one more time before September for posterity. But I was looking at it the other day while strolling DCA, and it's not attractive and it's not unique and it totally clashes with the new theme of Paradise Pier. I will gladly give up the Maliboomer to gain three other C Ticket rides; Luigi's, Tow Mater's, and the Red Car Trolley. Buh-bye Boomer! Thanks for being part of the old, unloved DCA.

I suppose we should be thankful the Bonita will not be just concrete.(Had to throw that in). It seems as tho the Bonita will be remembered as the rally call. "Remember the Bonita"

There are several ways to get across the theme of a waterfront pier -- the original version at DCA was not the one. At any rate, regardless of who 'broke the story' (I'm never sure why that's important, it's not like he's Nostradomas, he just has a few good moles within the organization) I'm glad Mali-BOOM-er is going away.

Yes, and I wonder what, if anything will be replacing the attraction. I know a "park" of some sort had been mentioned. Perhaps that's a temporary place holder. Also, will the shops along that end of the boardwalk finally get their facades renovated?

Anyway, I know some people like this ride, and I'm one of them actually, but I do appluad the fact Disney is now getting back to its roots and since it just doesnt fit into their new theme it has to go. Of course I dont know how TSM backstory exactly fit with the time period either, but at least the outside architecture fits, so whatever ;D.

Anyway, I'm just glad its leaving.
