We plan on doing it this Friday as well. The crowds are usually lighter during the day and then it gets heavier at night. I wouldn't compare Memorial Day Weekend to the Christmas holidays, more like a busy weekend in the summer.

Here is Hotwire - $62 per room per night 3.5-star hotel in Anaheim - Disneyland South Priceline you can bid on the rooms. Of course with both of these you don't know where you are staying, but I would guess if you pick 3* or better you should be good. Many people have gotten they Hyatt, Crown Plaza, Hilton, Marriot for about $50 or so per night.
