I know Memorial Day Weekend must be terrible crowd wise, but I've never been for this holiday. Is it ridonkulous? Or is it not too bad, plus with the lousy economy it probably won't be that bad either will it?

We made the mistake of going over MLK weekend once and it was ridiculous! Like a day in mid July!

We plan on doing it this Friday as well. The crowds are usually lighter during the day and then it gets heavier at night. I wouldn't compare Memorial Day Weekend to the Christmas holidays, more like a busy weekend in the summer.

*I know! Be still my heart that he's not been. His parents have been seriously lax in their efforts ;) *

Have you tried Hotwire or Priceline?
    Here is Hotwire -

$62 per room per night 3.5-star hotel in Anaheim - Disneyland South

Priceline you can bid on the rooms.

Of course with both of these you don't know where you are staying, but I would guess if you pick 3* or better you should be good.
Many people have gotten they Hyatt, Crown Plaza, Hilton, Marriot for about $50 or so per night.
