Currently they are having more snow than normal and she sent us the following three e-mails about going to work today.

I have edited them to keep everything confidential.

    NUMBER 1

    >>>Good morning!

There's more snow on the ground this morning than the worst of the snow left yesterday! I would estimate 4-5"!
DH dutifully shoveled the sidewalk and back deck...and now it's all covered again. SO pretty!!

There's quite an extensive list of closures on local radio.com, including now the college classes. BUT of course the county is open. Oh well! I have good boots and little spikes that I cover the sole with. DH is taking the bus to next town. Busses are running but on a limited schedule.

The dogs seem to both love the snow! Sadie was quite unsure yesterday but this morning she's bounding all over the back yard. TOO cute! Tried to get a good picture but it's quite dark outside still. Here's Charlie on the deck.

Well I have seen ONE car creep slowly down our street. It will take me quite awhile to get the car warmed up.

    Have a happy day!<<<

    NUMBER 2

    >>>Well here I am at work. I am the ONLY one in our department and the other
department. That's 43 people out, and me in! What a dummy I am! I may
    not stay all day today!<<<

    NUMBER 3

    >>>Well I may have been the only one there today....BUT at 9 a.m. a young mom came in with a baby strapped to her chest. She had missed her WIC check pick up appointment last week when her baby was in Children's Hospital in Seattle. So she rode the bus from next town this morning, desperate to get formula.

Then came a mom who walked from the High School, because the kids had no cereal this morning.

Then came a mom with a newborn baby and her toddler, for their 10:30 appointment. She said she had "fun" trying to get across the parking lot. The stupid roads department didn't even shovel the walkway!

So that's why God put a smile in my heart because of the snow! I was able to help 3 families who really needed it. And I'll go back this afternoon to help some more!<<<

She is a beautiful woman with a caring heart and I am VERY PROUD of her.

I bet DH doesn't think it's "SO pretty!!", lol.

As well you should be. That's wonderful she was able to help those families. And coming from such a fine father, it's no surprise how caring she is.

    Thanks for sharing this, fodd.

Thank you for sharing this--how heartwarming to know what a difference one person going to work made in the lives of others in just one day.

First there was the mom with a baby on her chest, and 2 toddlers in a Little Tykes wagon! She pulled them down the hill from near the High School. She called mid-morning to ask if anyone would be there this afternoon. She wanted to double check before heading out on foot.

Then there was the very pregnant Mom who came in at about 3:45. She was wearing plastic garbage bags on her feet! I commented on her "stylish shoes" and she told me that her feet are so swollen that nothing but slippers fit right now! But she knew she couldn't go out in the snow in just slippers!

One nice thing about all 5 families who came in today for services ~ they all said "thank you for being here today." It was a pretty simple thing really. When my boss called early in the morning to see who showed up, and I told her it was just me, she said, well hang out for 30 minutes then go home. I told her, "We have clinic scheduled today!"

I am just very thankful that I am blessed with a good car to get to work, good boots to wade through the snow, and good life experience to take care of an office all by myself! LOL<<<

You know if your daughter plugs her car in and puts it on a timer two hours before she leaves she probably won't have that problem.

    Glad to see she's committed.

I enjoyed your daughter's story but this took it over the top for me. So often we forget to say thank you to those who deserve it. And it is obvious that she deserves it.

My daughter also lives in WA. Not quite so far north I am guessing but they got snow. My grandson called me so excited about it. He got to make a snow angel, throw snow and eat snow. At last count there were 12 cars and a City bus stuck on or near her street.

Ahh, the difference between childhood and adulthood, lol. Cute about your grandson. :)

Your daughter has a great work ethic you should be proud of her! Here snow does not stop anything. All the kids are mad because they still had to go to school today. (the - temps may close down some things)
