    I was shocked to find out that he was a tad under 7 feet tall!

    Consider how intelligent he was going to Harvard Medical School.

    I, too, was shocked at how tall he was, beamerdog. I didn't know that until I read it in the article this morning. I guess I've never seen him on TV doing interviews or whatnot.

    It's been a few years since I read Timeline, but seem to remember it was a good one. Enjoy, Deb.

    One of my favorites. I particularly loved "Eaters of the Dead" and "The Andromeda Strain" for the way he was able to disguise an exciting story as a dry scientific report. Very clever and amusing in a geeky way.

And I really didn't like how he killed off one of his characters to cannibals in a very graphic and descriptive way - totally horrifying. But other than that he was always one of my favorite authors.

    Anyone remember the book/movie Sphere? Really lousy movie, but riveting book!
