With Millions Still Waiting For Sandy Relief, Republicans Reintroduce Obamacare Repeal
By Adam Peck on Jan 3, 2013 at 2:38 pm

The 112th Congress gaveled to a close on Thursday afternoon without passing a relief package for victims of Hurricane Sandy or reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, but Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) isn’t too concerned about finishing what Republicans had left undone. Instead, at 12:00 PM she introduced the very first piece of legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which states are now busily implementing.

House Republicans have unsuccessfully voted 33 times in the last two years to eliminate health care reform and wasted at least 88 hours and $50 million, while failing to pass a single piece of job creation legislation in the last session of Congress.

Dozens of Republicans, including 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney, ran against Obamacare, yet the party suffered losses every step along the way. The Supreme Court upheld the law, House repeal efforts went nowhere in the Democratically-controlled Senate, and President Obama has pledged to veto any effort to rescind the measure. Even newly reelected Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was compelled to admit in November that Obamacare is now the law of the land (though he later backed away from his own comments and pledged to do everything in his power to undermine it).

But House Republicans are apparently not quite ready to give up the fight. At this rate, they could be on track to becoming even less productive than the least productive Congress in U.S. history.

Does anyone actually believe that the House will change its behavior from the previous two years, and try to get legislation passed that will improve the lives for 98% of the country that isn't amassing large fortunes?

    Not me.
    Nosiree.
    Nope.
    No way.
    Not gonna happen.

Today's GOP: Same sh*t, different day.

    2) She barely won re-election, even though she outspent her Dem opponent, Jim Graves, by 12 to 1. Out of 350,000 ballots cast, she won by less than 3,000 votes.

    3) She has nothing to hang her hat on except anti-Obama sentiments. She's a one-trick pony, and the country is tired of the GOP Congressmen wasting taxpayer dollars and doing nothing.

Once again, she introduced yet another "kill Obamacare" bill today, which isn't going to fly with the majority of her constituents who want Congress to work together and get the job market rolling again. Michele doesn't know how to do that; she's simply an obstructionist, never having put together a bill of her own. By 2014, I doubt she'll have 51% of her constituents begging her to run again.

Does she have delusions of another presidential run? The last one peaked in the meaningless Iowa straw poll, then tanked. Who exactly does she even think her audience is at this point?

Personally, I don't think she really cares. She and hubby need the salary and benefits she's drawing in Congress. They've been sucking at the teat of Big Government for years. They've done the foster parent thing for money, Marcus took taxpayer dollars for rehab counseling for parolees, and the family farm has nabbed hundreds of thousands of agriculture subsidies to keep it operational. Without these government checks and especially Michele's Congressional salary and benefits, they would have gone financially belly-up years ago.

Michele is also a media whore like Sarah Palin. She'll say and do practically anything to keep the spotlight on her. Other than drawing a Congressional paycheck and getting airtime with Fox News, I don't think she cares one whit about her job. As a member of Congress, she's completely worthless.

I think she's trying to feather a nest for herself at Fox News, maybe even hoping for her own show. Or a radio gig or something. I think that ship has kind of sailed at this point, but you never know with right wing media -- they always seem to find room for their most extremist elements.

I would indeed watch a reality show with her and Marcus, because it would be an absolute riot of unintentional comedy.

And even with that, she got only 50.5% of the vote.
