Mickey Rooney was Grand Marshall, Tuesday 10/11/05

    It was quite a kick seeing Mickey Rooney. He waved right at me, as he drove by, big smile and all. Still enthusiastic as ever.

    It was weird. It was this little mini-flange of people, Mickey with a big smile, but collectively walking like they'd run you over in a heartbeat. I got out of the way right quick.

    I don't know how else to describe it. Very weird, and yet I'm glad it happened - I can picture it in my mind to this day!

    Mickey Rooney did an autograph show in Hollywood a couple of years ago. He was a dynamo. He would grab a photo, and simultaneously sign, pose for a photo, and chat up the guest. You were swept on and away before you really knew what was happening.

    Afterall, he was the drunk lighthousekeeper who thought he saw a dragon...
