We found either getting there 30 min early or 30 min late was the easiest. When we went 30 min after we pretty much walked in. I would also suggest eating before you go - last year the food lines were crazy.

People tend to see a line and get in it. A CM would be waving people over to the other side and would often be ignored. Also, each station has a "healthy" treat. If they aren't crazy busy they'll ask which you prefer. If they are busy just mention that you would prefer the apples or raisins or carrots or whatnot if that's what you want. It's pretty easy to see what they are giving out.

Well OK, maybe there are a few candy bars and whatnot eaten first Funny story. Toward the end of the evening last year we walked up to a treat station with no line. The CM dropped candy in our bags and then asked if we liked something that we couldn't quite hear. It looked like little boxes of nerds!!! so daughter in law and I said "sure, thank you!" and he gave us each a big handful. YAY, score! Later that night we dumped out our bags and found that they were RAISINS!! Gosh we laughed about that. We felt very Charlie Brownish It's such a fun night, I can't wait! If you like the villains, they were mostly hanging out by Golden Dreams under the dome. No popping out and scaring the little ones or anything like that. Hades was amazing.
