It continues to look less and less like that's so. Warning: The writer has amassed homemade signs and logos that are deeply disturbing to make her case. I'm serious, do not click unless you're prepared to see sickening racism.

My mom-in-law du jour lives in SC in a fairly upscale residential area near a lake. Not quite gated, but close. Anyway, there are ZERO minorities in that neighborhood. ZERO. The nearest cluster of non-white residences are miles away. The only people of color you see in her neighborhood are riding mowers and planting shrubs. Go anywhere in town and you hear the blatant racism. It's everywhere. Even in front of the minority baggers at the grocery store, white customers open their stupid mouths and let the crap flow right out. Borderline racist billboards dot the local highways. The only thing missing are KKK advertisements. But it comes darn close. And Obama? He's the devil incarnate. They hate his guts with a passion. Seriously. I don't know how my MILDJ handles this garbage, being the long-time liberal Democrat she is. (Transplanted from Jersey, years ago, for her husband's job.)

When riding in a car with a white driver they are much more likely to be pulled over and the officer is only checking to make sure everything's okay. Women clutch their purses when a black man approaches. People lock their car doors when driving through a neighborhood full of black people. The "worst" neighborhoods are always black neighborhoods. We have a long way to go to overcome racism in this country.

The optimistic side of me hopes beyond hope that this is the "last vestiges" come out loud and strong because FINALLY America has elected a minority to the highest position in the land, and it will get markedly better from here on in. The pessimist in me feels that this is but the opening stages of a nasty, ugly race war that will only get progressively worse as the nation shatters into at least 2 very distinctive pieces.

I live in Manassas V.A and we have a very open area b/c we have every color and religion made in Northern Virginia. We have the Indians, the muslims, white people, hispanics, blacks, and pakistans. Let me tell you I am not racist or never will be. My husband is hispanic, but there are certain cultures I don't like. Anyways back to what I was going to say. Though we have all of these people and though 80 percent of the people like eachother we do have racism. We have this one girls who's mom was talking to one of my daughters friends parents about how hispanics are stupid and why do we have to have them. Only for their adopted son wanna hear irony from el sabador comes walking up mommy look who this is. Oh but to my face this lady is so nice, once my kids come around though shes a different work. Their daughter is racist 2 it starts from a young age. The daughter likes being Gabby's friend but at the same time my daughter comes home saying hispanics are stupid. I am mad about this, I live with a bunch of hispanics and for my daughter to say that is hurtful. What's worst is that my daughter dosen't consider herself hispanic but american which she is, and she dosen't even connect the 2 but one day she will. Though I keep this child away from mine, I won't be able to stop every single racist person and that bothers me. I am white and I don't deal with racism often, not sure why that is but its the truth. But I know my husband/ guys/ kids are going to deal with it. They have dealt with it b/f and will continue to deal with it. The worst thing that has happened so far was Luz and I were at waffle house, and 2 bikers stepped in front of my car and wouldn't let me in my car. They then grabbed Luz and started to plumet him. Luckily the rest of my guys were on the way to waffle house and could stop it in time, but that scares me on how some people are so racist that they don't even stop to think of their actions.
