So instead of doing something significant to honor Austin's memory, like say going back to running the system like it was say 15 years ago with safety before all else, they take the remnants of the two trains and make a whole. Even sadder, anyone who'd know that purple and pink were involved in the fatal crash will also know teal is made up from what's left of them. Just dumb ... and so typical.

And I for one do NOT want to see a memorial to a deceased CM anywhere on property while I'm on vacation. It's not that I don't respect him and don't feel bad that he was killed. But I'm on vacation - it's not the time to be reflecting on death.

And the Roy and Minnie statue? And the lamp in Walt's apartment in DL? And all the names on the windows on Main St USA? Why not add Austin's name there?

Again, it was a sad loss, and I'm sure his family is still missing him. But I don't need to be reminded of that when I'm on vacation. Maybe that's a little cold on my part, but it's how I feel. Been working more and tossing out posts without giving them the once over. So possible, but not likely ;-) My comment wasn't about them putting the trains back in service. It was giving them a new color and 'retiring' purple and pink. That is a PR move all the way. I think it's dumb and reactionary and exactly what I'd expect out of the Mouse these days.

But I just don't see the problem with retiring the old colors in favor of a new one. For those who wanted a memorial, this is it, albeit subtle. I think it's a very nice, well thought out move. >Oh ... and nice to see my favorite Texan posting again! < I missed Labuda too!
