So you may want to consider month from a financial planning perspective. You can consider your month for a trips that you take at the same time every year. Say for example you wanted to take a trip in September and October every year and you have a use month of October 1. You could use your current points for your trip in September and then your points would renew on October 1 without you having to borrow from the next year. You can book at your home resort 11 months prior to the date of the trip and you may book at another resort 7 months prior to your trip. But this is driven by home resort not use month. Unlike a traditional timeshare, however, your month is not particularly valuable. Even if your month was December (Holiday), it is more in demand but everyone is on equal footing in terms of booking. We chose October because there is a rule regarding canceling less than 30 or 60 days before the end of your year(You lose the points). And we regularly travel to DL the last week of November/first week of December. By choosing October these dates are at the beginning of our use year. If we HAVE to cancel, they just go back into our account. AND, this is before we would have to make the decision to bank points for the year.
