They've lied and distorted about so many other things, especially since Obama took office, that they have zero credibility with me. If someone with experience in the field says this kind of a slip up can happen, then fine. But we're not talking about CNN, NBC or even PBS. It's Fox. Assigning a reasonableness standard to them, I'd then like to think after the first screw up they'd make double sure they don't mess up a second time. But they did. So when do we stop giving them the benefit of the doubt?

When news organizations make errors, the thing to do is publish or broadcast some sort of retraction or clarification. If it was merely an honest mistake, a few words like "Earlier we reported on the crowds waiting to see Sarah Palin, and mistakenly ran footage from the 2008 campaign. It was our mistake -- that's live TV folks!"

I did. It was a creepy collection of teabag rally nuts. Why would Fox want to expose the truth about the kind of people who show up to a Palin book signing when they can show much more benign footage from the 2008 campaign that won't expose the fact that Palin's followers are mostly lunatic right-wing fringe?

But it's also something I feel is true based on your ridiculous comments. Your rebuttal is to call me stupid and small minded. Twice. Brilliant comeback there pal. Oh, and you worked in TV? Was your boss Rupert Murdoch by any chance?

But for a little flub like this? I'm sure they don't even think of it as anything to correct. And why would anyone want to point to their flubs and bring more attention to them? But after it was put on Youtube, perhaps there was a correction somewhere in the 24 hour news cycle that no one has seen or published to Youtube. And X, glad to see you're back in the game. We've had a nice discussion about this over the course of the day, and I don't think anyone has been rude or condescending or stooped to name calling. Except you. You did it first in this thread, guaranteeing a like response from me. If you ever want intelligent conversation, I'm all for it. If you want to keep name calling, then keep up your current behavior, and I'll be happy to sling a few "idiot"s back your way.

And maybe it was. Responsible news outlets (print, broadcast, online) do own up to mistakes once they've been pointed out. Now, the New York Times isn't going to publish a correction box if there is a simple typo. And this could be seen in some ways as a simple typo. Normally it wouldn't be all that big of a deal. Except for the fact that it seems to keep happening on Fox, and they'd just gotten a spank for this from Jon Stewart's show a few days prior, resulting in Hannity having to do a smarmy "apology" on his show (he, too, blamed it on a "mistake".) So it really does get hard to know when it is just a simple flub and when it is intentional. But it shouldn't be up to YouTubers or The Daily Show to keep Fox somewhere in the bounds of fairness. Some of it Fox should take on itself and be more mindful of it.

You had every right to prove me wrong, by illustrating how your comments were actually, you know, backed up by facts. Instead you call me a small minded idiot. Probably because you're full of it and can't back up your comments by, you know...facts. Keep tryin though, you'll get it someday.

But you're wrong to call it a "little flub". It's propaganda, bald faced and shameless. And it's not the one clip, it's such "little flubs" and comments and mis-truths repeated over and over and over and over. Goebbels was great at that kinda stuff, you should read about him. “The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over” Joseph Goebbels Look at the huge crowds of protesters/supporters! It's a confrontational post, loaded with disrespect for someone you've had no interchange with in the thread. And it went downhill from there. You could have just said you think he's wrong or you disagree and here's why. But you didn't.

I simply dispute that this was a case of that. And I do so dispute with a background and knowledge of video and news production that far surpasses yours and possibly anyone else on this thread. I don't do this with any sense of superiority at all. It's just that I've been there, for many years, and know how easy it is to make a mistake. And from long experience I know how easy it is to jump on this kind of mistake and scream "FOUL! INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING PROPAGANDA!" Again, Fox gets it wrong a lot of the time. In this case, and in my experienced opinion, they just goofed.
