SHAME Disney Co!!!

It says "Walt Disney World" on it because it's a souvenir of where it was purchased. Why must each and every souvenir item come with a disclaimer attached that says "Purchaser agrees to understand that this is DISNEYLAND'S birthday. And Disneyland is in California, not where you are standing now." And if the guest is not smart enough to make the connection on their own, so? What difference does it make? If they already don't know who's birthday it is, then why must each and every souvenir item serve as an educational tool to that end? I like the shirt design. At first glance I thought the castle was Disneyland's anyway. It has that look. If you look closely I think it's been stylized to fit into the "O" of the 50 better. The actual tall spires of WDW's castle are actually much higher.

It could almost have been a "Where's Waldo" thing. Find where on this souvenir item that the special logo is. Could even have been included somewhere on the WDW's Castle overlay.

Why is that so hard to understand? And..ssWEDway..please don't give me the impression you are one of those CMs who is now brainwashed by the current Disney management who does not have a clue... You are more intelligent than that. Look away from the light!!! >>And if the guest is not smart enough to make the connection on their own, so? What difference does it make?<< Again...it implies something that is not. And since tourists are dumb (because they check their brains with their luggage and the airlines loose it) I think it's wrong, and forgive me if you all don't register that. Frankly I love this tee shirt and would love to have but on principle...No, I won't buy one. >> If they already don't know who's birthday it is, then why must each and every souvenir item serve as an educational tool to that end?<< Then why have Pal Mickey? A stupid toy in my opinion that many people love here. Besides, even Walt recognized the need for education thru entertainment. Something that is lost with the current management at WDC.

I asked them if they knew what park was celebrating it's 50th birthday and all 3 knew it was Disneyland ---- so I guess the world is safe.

Too much of our life is spent trying to overcome the dumbing down that occurs - let's pretend that people have some (?) intelligence, and make things accordingly. No having to explain at the first (?) grade level. If people get it, good - if they don't then let them get an education. ">> If they already don't know who's birthday it is, then why must each and every souvenir item serve as an educational tool to that end?<< Then why have Pal Mickey?" Uh, what do these two thoughts have to do with each other? Pal Mickey has nothing to do with teaching which park is having it's 50th anniversary, so I can't follow the thought-line behind the comment. I could be dense (been accused of that before), but these seem to be so far apart that I just had to comment.

But I prefer to try to concentrate on those things about Disney that ARE good, and dwell on that. I try to contribute to it too wherever I can. I think many of the things that the current administration does or allows to happen are good, well thought out, and they appear to be trying to do Disney right. But then they also do boners. Some so awkward that they make you want to wince. I haven't gotten to the point of thinking that management is purposely TRYING to subvert Disney in some evil, self-serving way. I think it's mostly stupidity. -------------- I agree with you that I wish there was more notoriety of DL's Birthday in all this hoopla. I don't think it's being purposely hidden -- just not promoted enough. What do you think of my Post #5? That would have been a good idea, I think. And I STILL can't understand why there isn't at least a prominent "DL" on the crown symbol on the WDW Castle overlay mirror design. They paid money to put the "50" on there. There is this bare space underneath the "50." For a few extra crummy bucks the letters "DL" could have been put there.

At those prices, it is simply irresponsible to not Disney know there are problems and comments on those as well... and I honestly believe it's sad that at the prices they charge for admission, the bad outweights the good in some cases. We should not even have to talk about the bad things at WDW at all..reason I am even more bitter with WDW as it is today.

When I pay: > $11 for a movie - many stink >$100 for a 2 1/2 hour play ( and let's be honest are these all good ?) > $15 to enter a museum > $40 - $80 for 1 Cubs ticket ( and don't even get me started with the quality of that product > $60 - $125 for a Bulls or Blackhawks ticket > $80 for a Bears ticket > $40 + for Six Flags Great America > $200 + for a ticket to see Paul McCartney or the Stones or U2 etc etc etc etc -- WDW still seems like a good deal to me........... doesn't mean I don;t expect very high quality -- I do, but I think that is a separate issue from the cost. I expect McCartney to be great in concert -- but he charges 4 times what many other very good bands do to see him -- WDW is priced the same as Sea World and Universal -- and even for a one day only ticket, less than 50% more than Six Flags -- so they are not charging the premiums the top musical acts are for quality.

Enjoyed many a Saturday afternoon at a Cubs/Cardinals game, either in St. Louis or in Chicago. What great memories. Both sets of fans are dedicated to great ball, and fun. I "grieve with thee" about the overall state of Cubs ball through the years. But entertaining? Yes!
