No word yet if his hand is back on. Personally I think Rover ate it...

I didn't even think to snap a picture of it. Shows you how well I'm conditioned to not take shots in rides. LOL

That that happened to COP, that would be the end of it. It's getting good numbers these days and that keeps it open. I think the alternative is removing it. :(

    Not the case at all.

Boycotts do not work. Let alone by a few hundred disgruntled fanbois. Or even if they convince a few thousand others to 'join the cause'.

Disney's strategy as it systematically has destroyed all the basic tenets it created in theme park management largely is 'let's replace them with someone who doesn't know any better'.

You hurt them with bad PR. Targeted strikes. ... Oh yeah, and using social media the way it was meant to be and not as a bastardized arm of corporate marketing.

    That gets attention.

    That gets things done.

One would guess that Iger, Staggs, the Prince and the BoD didn't enjoy CoP during their 'tour' (cough ... cough ... hack ... splat) of WDW last week ;-)

I have been worried about this show since they changed out "Now Is The Time."

We've always heard that "Disneyland is not a museum," and I agree with that. BUT...

For what it's worth, "Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress" should be in a museum. Changing the final scene every time "Hi-Def-TV" or virtual video games come along simply puts a moustache on the Mona Lisa. This year, let's give her an iPad! It will keep her fresh!

Please don't throw a churro at me for saying this, but let's remove the CoP carefully from the MK. Let's move it to the Walt Disney Family museum in San Francisco, and restore it to it's 1964 glory. Then, people can still visit the attraction, it will be in the capable hands of the museum staff, the father will have his hand back, and Cousin Orville can have his privacy. Miss "Now Is the Time?" Once every so often they can overlay it. Miss the 1994 version? We can overlay that too on special occasions. The gift shop can sell a 4-disc boxed set of all the soundtracks. A limited edition lithograph depicting the Grandfather in the July 4th scene holding that rocket that could easily blow up the entire house! And it could be signed by somebody!

Sorry, I get carried away. I've loved that show my entire life, and I hate to see it in its tired state. The thing that kills me about WDW lately is that the folks calling the big shots have no artistic talent. Too big to manage? No. Too far away from Hollywood (Burbank/Glendale), and the real artists that create the magic.

Need some proof? The big news this week was that Iger and the Board were in town, and everyone "stepped it up." In the old days, California management was always on property.

(By the way, in another display of genius, they put the Board up in the Boardwalk Resort. I'll bet someone got a raise for that.)

I don't mean to rant. I'm just very passionate about the CoP.

    Happy New Day!

What it needs is a reinvention, and a way to make it feel fresh and timeless. As long as the base of the show remains (family, revolving stage, song) it can be a respectful tribute to itself and a thematic story that could fit in Tomorrowland.

I'd be fine with moving it elsehwere, as long as it performs. I'd love for it go in Disneyland, but that's not happening.
