Do we have an official laughingplace.com hotel sponsor?

I know back in the day, hojo ad popped up whenever I came here.

Who is the best hotel, most reasonably priced these days in Disneyland, it's been four years since I've gone.

I miss the link to the Materhorn camera. I never see any of the ads the site posts here since my ad blocker stops them. I would still go to HoJo if you are going in the near future. Things will be very different once construction starts for the new parking structure.

If staying on the Harbor strip, my first choice would be the Candy Cane. Sometimes slightly more expensive, but it has a bit of a nicer feel than some of the others, definitely a better breakfast than some of the others, and its own dedicated shuttle every half hour if you don't feel like walking (and it's only a 10 minute walk if you don't mind), and on the same side of the street.

I stayed at the Fairfield last December and it was perfectly acceptable.

If you're just looking for the cheapest, I'd do a direct comparison for YOUR dates on one of the major travel sites like Expedia, and/or Trip Advisor, which now will show prices as well. The least expensive place in October may not be the least expensive in November, etc. etc.

When you find the cheapest, check out the reviews and see if the place seems acceptable. If not, move on to the next-cheapest, etc. I'd recommend Trip Advisor, as their reviews are pretty reliable - they do a good job at weeding out the fake-good (from the places themselves) and fake-bad (from competitors) reviews, so you're reading from people who have actually stayed at the places in question.

I've always enjoyed The Annabella on Katella. It's a bit more of a walk considering we walk up to GCH to go through Downtown Disney to get to the park, but it's always a good excuse to stop by Haagen Daz on the way back to the hotel. We've also been upgraded a few times and gotten free breakfast too.

I've heard a rumor that The Annabella will be going away soon. Anybody heard the same kind of thing?

Thank you for the responses. Back in the day, I used to get on priceline, type in 40 bucks and get the Hyatt, Crowne Plaza, or Hilton Suites in orange everytime.

Will these days ever return, or has the croc been priced out of Disneyland?

I tend to favor the hotels near Katella & Disneyland Dr. You can often find a really cheap room over there, but some of them can be kind of grungy too so make sure you read up on it and find something you're comfortable with. I typically just use the hotel as a place to sleep, spending most of my time in the parks, so it doesn't bother me much, but even for me some of them can seem like a stretch (Anaheim Discovery Inn, I'm looking at you!)

Occasionally I can find a pretty good deal at the Hilton by the Convention Center if there aren't any big groups in town. In recent years that's always meant $100+ (how I wish it were $40!) but considering the huge difference in quality from the 'local' motels, I think it's usually worth it. The walk to the parks is a little longer than I'd like, but there are several ART routes that stop right in front of the hotel
Yah, there was an article about it in the OC Register a few months ago. I think it's going to become a Four Seasons, or something of that same caliber. So don't expect to find a good deal there once the rebuild is complete!

I stayed at the Fairfield Inn on Harbor. Thought it was busy, very touristy and tired looking,

I've heard good things about The Candy Cane Inn. They don't advertise on the travel sites, so it is mostly word of mouth and experiences that keep them well booked. It was recommended by Kingdom Konsultants to me for my last trip, but I ended up going with a deal from Costco that I couldn't pass up. Here is their website so you can check them out. Our family stayed there one time. I thought it was fairly nice...But, I wouldn't have wanted to stay in a first floor room. We were on the second floor and the guy down below us started pounding on his ceiling. He even called my room to chew me out for all of our "stomping around." The thing is, we weren't doing anything unusual. I'm always mindful of the stomping because it is one of my bugaboos as well. Anyway, I get emails from Anabella and the last one was sent to me on 8/15/17 and here's what it said:
"The Anabella Hotel is now closed and will be redeveloped into an exquisite four-diamond hotel with over 600 rooms by the same owners, opening in 2020.
If you are traveling to Anaheim in the meantime, please consider staying at The Anaheim Hotel.
The Anaheim Hotel has been recently renovated and rebranded with upgraded amenities throughout. Plus, it’s an unbeatable location with a less than 10 minute walk to Disneyland’s main gate and the Convention Center."
The price, when we stayed a couple of years ago, was great compared to Paradise Pier across the street.
We have spoiled ourselves by staying on Disney property, I'm afraid. For many years we just tried to stay at one of the motels across the street.

Of all the strange things, The Anaheim Majestic is pretty good, pretty reasonable, mucking huge, and has LARGE rooms. It's what used to be the Sheraton north of the parks. It is a long walking distance, or they have their own shuttle every 15 minutes or so. It's been quite pleasant when we've stayed there. Just know it's a bit of a maze.
When I'm not staying at a Disney hotel, I generally check what's available on Booking.com or something. There are lots of choices these days, it's just the prices keep climbing...
