The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; GoodFellas; Silence of the Lambs; Scream; Dr. Strangelove...; Apocalypse Now; A Clockwork Orange; The Exorcist; The Green Mile; Platoon; Fargo; The Sixth Sense; Benji; Lassie.

And its own category: The Many Adventures of WtP; Oliver & Co; Meet the Robinsons; Brother Bear; Dinosaur; Chicken Little; or Home on the Range.

Some movies I could not watch and stopped after a short bit: Rocky, Napolean Dynamite, and The Pianist.

I haven't seen The Sixth Sense, A Clockwork Orange (and have no desire to), Scream, Fargo and a few others you mentioned. It's hard to recall those I HAVEN'T seen!!
Out of Africa, The Killing Fields, All That Jazz, Annie Hall, Casablanca, or To Kill a Mockingbird...to name a few others. I would love to see the latter two, however. I'm sure there are MANY more notable movies I've missed seeing but I can't think of them now.

Some things you need to see when you're young, I think! But I'm glad I've now seen it so I no longer have people shrieking "you've never seen the Wizard of Oz?!" at me.

A Clockwork Orange is a horrible movie. I had to watch it for a film subject at uni, and it's Dad's favourite movie, so I was looking forward to it. I emerged terribly concerned about Dad's state of mind.

Okay, so far I've only talked about what I HAVE seen. From your list I haven't seen The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; Goodfellas; Dr. Strangelove...; Apocalypse Now; The Exorcist; The Green Mile; Platoon; Benji; Lassie.

Loved both Brokeback Mountain and the King's Speech though - Dave, parenthood is making you miss out!

Wow, petesdraggin, you have quite a list of the classics there! I've seen them all except Once Upon a Time in the West. I like westerns but not spaghetti westerns. Just don't care for them. Tried watching Once Upon a Time... but just didn't hold my attention.

Make a point of watching It's a Wonderful Life around the holidays this year. I am sure you'll enjoy it.

    Momento
    The Pianist
    The Lives of Others
    The Departed
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    The Prestige

That being said I am a huge 40's movie buff- to me the golden era - and contains many of my all time top 25 or so films.

    Casablanca
    Citizen Kane
    Double Indemnity
    Maltese Falcon
    Treasure of Sierra Madre
    It's a Wonderful Life
    The Big Sleep
His Girl Friday ( maybe my all time fave)
    Arsenic & Old Lace
    Yankee Doodle Dandy
    Great Expectations
    Meet me in St Louis
    The Bank Dick
    Key Largo
    Miracle on 34th Street
    Pride of the Yankees
    Inspector General
    Going My Way
    The Wolfman
and the last few installments of the Thin Man series which started mid 30's

with a few very notable exceptions- I could have a library of 30's- 40's films and be very happy.

Not anymore thanks to our new esteemed leadership. And being in Europe, it is a pain in the but parking wise. The video shop has parking outside of it. The library is a quarter of a mile min walk from the car parks that charge $4 an hour.
