This is, well, I would say "crazy" but it's just yet another stupid example of stupid people who should be fired because their religion is too strict for them to work in customer service. Plain and simple. http://www.startribune.com/535 /story/1052945.html

Does the cashier spend her whole day nervously glancing at every can and container that nears the register, eyeballing each to make sure she doesn't handle the dreaded pork? And, even if so, can she read English so quickly? Or is it not "handled" if it's in a jar? Does something in the koran specify "chunks of pig" in particular? I'd really love to know the rules. You'd think that such a hidious situation that could result in a religious violation would be avoided. That perhaps that person might be more comfortable as a cashier at a car wash or something? Or maybe they're just stirring up trouble?

Minneapolis/St. Paul has the largest Somali population in the country. We have the reputation of being very tolerant of new immigrants (we also have one of the larges Hmong populations in the United States). Unfortunately, I think we are running into a situation where "we've given an inch and they want to take a mile". Seeing that we are as tolerant as we are, they keep pushng for more.

Well, whatever the call em, supposedly Canada has historically treated them much better than their American counterparts, with many concessions and whatnot, but the Indian Canadian Natives are always pushing for more. I dunno if it's TRUE, just sounded similar to your point RT. Do me a favor would ya? I'd do it myself, but I'm a little far from the Midwest at the moment. Go down to the grocery store and find one of those chicks. Then please proceed to eat a ham and bacon sandwich in front of her. Okay? Thanks. You can tell her Mr. X sent ya.
