I ran back to the ride and my car was already gone, I only knew which one was mine because the car infront of me was gone. So I waited for the car to come back, expecting the woman with the child to say to the waiting CM,"Here we found a cell phone". When the car returned the woman looked at me and practically ran, I looked thru the car and it was not there. So the CM and myself went to go look for the woman--she was gone. I had my 20 yr. old daughter with me so she tried calling my cell phone, the lady continued answering it and hanging up on me. Huh? Ok, this was weird, so we waited and tried again..and again..and again. Every time she would answer and laugh and say H.E.L.L.O.... now I was MAD! I did notice she had a shirt on that said "The Amazeing Race". After awhile I figured it was pretty much a lost cause. Later that eve. after my carrier sent a text message to my phone and informad her that it was being tracked and the authoritys were on the way...I got a phone call about 15 min. later. Ok, how sad is this.. it was a church group!!! Wow, luckily, her friend agreed to meet me because it was locale and return my phone to me. We met at the locale Albertsons, so I felt safe, but what a great example to the kids these people were involved with!

If someone followed me around Disneyland I might want to avoid them also.
It sounds like it could have been just a big mistake.

Unfortunately, he never did get it back and it was never turned in to lost & found. It really dampened his trip for him. He realized it was his own fault, but it would still be nice to be able to trust one another in this world.

I told the rest of my group to wait, and I RAN back to where we had been sitting. They were still there, and everything was still inside. I'm still not sure how they stayed there that long, but I'm very glad that there weren't any tables open when we got there, because we ended up sitting on the ground, and I was next to a trash can. People must have figured that I just left a bag of Disney themed trash behind.

I put a small label with my cell number on it and the word "REWARD" on all my small electronics. I have had my digital camera returned to me, and the person refused the reward. In fact the person said what a great idea it was and planned to label all her stuff too.

Get this one. My husband's boss was supplying him with one of those old Motorola phones the size of a brick. Someone actually broke into his truck to steal it. When he called it someone said, "ola". The phone was disabled within hours so whoever took it didn't get much use from it. Upside, the boss got hubby a new (normal sized) phone.

In July we were on Buzz and my husband left his favorite (expensive) felt hat behind. He noticed right away, went back and it was already with a CM. I guess another CM had noticed it before anyone else got on. Lucky hubby.

The other week someone actually left their purse in a empty shopping cart at a grocery store. When it was turned into the store clerk, she told me I would be amazed how much people left their purse, men wallets full of cash in stores. That tells me alot of people turn them back in.

There are good folks out there - in and out of church.

I agree, it is just that we generally think of church people as the ones who should set an example. It is a bad example to steal nomatter what church you belong to or if you are an atheist. Stealing is always wrong.
I lost a purse and when the police called me to say they had it I was told I was very lucky that my money was still inside. (Downside: It had been quite a while since I lost it and the baby's bottle of milk was still in there too.)YUCK!!!
At the Aloha festival Saturday I gave a vendor a 5 and he started to give me change for a 20. When I told him, he was very grateful. It just feels good to be honest.
I too am glad ploeb got her phone back.

I have pointed out mistakes at cash registors a few times, today I did actually when I got charged £2.50 for my sons school socks when it said £3 on them, the lady looked stunned that I had pointed it out, it's just the right thing to do! Id like to think others would do it to me if I lost something. I handed a beautiful bracelet in that I found on the Star Tours ride. So beautiful I have looked to see if I could buy a similar one myself since but cant find one...lol.

    oh Im so good.....lol

I so agree with that. My thought is that everyone in church is not really in church - who knows why they are truly there. AND maybe this person really didn't know it wasn't their phone - in which case they should have felt very stupid when they realize so :O) It was even great the person who delivered the phone even mention they were a church group. It just takes all kind.

I gave change back once and the person looked at me like I was from Mars, just totally shocked.

I love hearing good ending stories, their are so many of the other kind.

That has happened to me too. I have even had them act rude, like it was my mistake or that I was saying they were stupid to have added wrong or whatever. I still do it because I know it is right.

Little side note: The night I met Mr. RAM1984 we were at a college football game. We had gone to the snack bar together and the kid at the counter gave him too much change. When he pointed it out the kid just could not say "thank you!!!!" enough. That night I told my best friend that I was going to marry him. That was 35 years ago this November 6.
I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but it gets harder and harder.

I also like to hope that people are honest and I totally believe that for the most part they are, I guess I was dissapointed that a church member, clearly in an authority position, according to her friend that met me, would make such a bad decision.

That said, perhaps a better title for this thread would be

"I lost my phone, and the lady that found it didn't turn it in". She didn't really take it from you. You left it in a ride vehicle, and someone else found it a few minutes later. That person failed to give it back to you, and tried to keep it for themselves. That's a little different than taking something directly from someone. It's dishonest either way however.

And as you pointed out, "its dishonest either way", so why does it matter how it was worded-and who post a long thread like"I lost my phone and the woman who found it didnt turn it in".
