High maintenance cost and low thruput? Of course.

But that would only require stopping them. Instead they spent a lot of money to fill in the lagoon, and then rip out the sub show building floor. Why?

I believe that the lagoon and show building floors were leaking. And that was causing long-term damage to the utilidor and locker rooms nearby.

They would have had to spend LOTS of money to stop this damage. And it just wasn't worth it compared to it's already high cost.

The subs died because they needed more than upgrading. They needed to have their whole basic infrastructure redone.

The utilidors and locker rooms were not really under the lagoon. But they were definitely lower than the lagoon. And literally right alongside.

Any leaks from the lagoon would definitely affect the utilidors.

My evidence? The floors in the locker rooms all have peeling floor tiles. It smells damp and somewhat moldy in there. The rugs in the nearby corridors are water damaged.

Can you tell me more about why the floor of the sub show building was removed? That big grassy field out back?

Is there a way to find older LP threads on a topic that may have been discussed before? You know, like a Google search on "lagoon" or something? I'm interested in the timeline on this.

Maybe. But it's possible they tried for a long time to repair the damage and finally had to end the lagoon entirely only as a last resort.

    Speculation.

My guess is that its the lagoon, BUT thats not why 20K was closed. There was a long discussion about this a couple of months ago here that you might want to check out. I wouldnt believe the Jim Hill version of the story at all. Its all a bunch of horse feathers.

I will try to locate this. Any links you could help with?

I will try to look this up as well.

So what is the gist of what he has to say? Many threads I've read on this pretty much put the whole thing onto one of our current or recent managers that they don't like.

Doobie should put this information on a page so you could reach it from an LP "Find A Discussion on a Topic" help link. That way it would never be forgotten.

That's all interesting too, and usually contains some kernels of truth. But overall it's much less reliable. People tend to add things as they go, which then become part of the "facts" downstream.
