Looks like these prices were posted in OCT...

For dinner it looks like it could easily go up to $100 just for one - if you go with a starter, and dessert and something to drink!
    The lowest entree is $35...

It's in the Grand California Hotel

Napa Rose is one of my favorite restaurants, but I'm not sure you'd want to go with just your 18 month old. If he/she can quietly entertain him/herself while you have your meal, that might be ok. However, some kids at that age can be restless and bored (understandably), and that wouldn't really be fair to the other diners since it's an upscale restaurant. Also, the food can be expensive, so you'd probably want to be able to enjoy the food, not be busy with your child and so not be able to really focus on your meal.

My suggestion would be to go when you can have someone else tending to your child for the evening.

They just don't. I don't care how well-behaved they may be ... and at 18 months any disaster is possible.

I personally think Disney should have a no under-5s policy like many of the fine restaurants in Vegas do, but I know they won't.

There are plenty of wonderful places to dine with child where you won't be uncomfortable and neither will other diners.

If these "nice" restaurants didn't have locals and their families (I've seen 6week olds) going to these restaurants they would most definately go under.

Not that Napa Rose isn't nice or anything, but a restaurant built with theme park visitors in mind is expecting and counting on diners with their families.

However, they have also gone through phases where we have avoided fine dining altogether (sometimes they are good and sometimes not).

Personally I do not think NR is great with little ones. If you want a nice meal and take the kids, I would say Steakhouse55, PCH Grill, Hook's Point, any of the Downtown Disney establishments or Blue Bayou are a better choice.

NR is a good romantic/business meeting venue.

To be frank, if they act up they have ALREADY disrupted other diners.

Plus, and this might just be a personal thing here, but I'm not sure it's very cool to bring in a young baby who might do their "business" near me and my meal. Yuck.

Certainly not at a place where you are paying for perfection, anyway!

Aside from that, I'm reasonably okay with older kids as long as they behave and are trained.

People of all ages can be very annoying. Kids learn to behave by being exposed to better environments. And they learn to enjoy it.

I'd prefer to be around none of the above if I'm paying a kings ransom for a gourmet meal.

Hmm. Seems to me that it's better to teach them while making sure it's not at the expense of others. I agree with taking the kid out if they misbehave (and I've even had to do that, once or twice), but when you're talking about a gourmet place the disturbance shouldn't happen in the first place imho. If the kid is perfectly behaved, then fine. I would take my 4 year old to any restaurant without concern, but I wouldn't feel comfortable having done it when I wasn't certain she'd be able to behave. Just my take on things (plus the stench issue which could happen to ANY kid still in diapers, and would be an awful experience for others around you paying tons of money for their meal.

***And they learn to enjoy it.***

Don't know about that. I can certainly attest to the fact that I was bored to death being dragged to boring stuff as a kid (I behaved, of course..otherwise I'd have received a beating) like symphonies or stuffy restaurants. I love that stuff now, but never when I was young.

To say know (if over the age of 21) is illegal. But not for kids.
