My questions are about getting from Provence back up to DLP. Does anyone know if there is a train that we can take that will take us from somewhere in Provence up to DLP or will we have to go into Paris first? We will have a car as well so deciding to drive back up to Paris or rent car once we are in Provence and drop there before we leave for DLP. Also, is DLP fairly close to CDG airport? We'll be at DLP Tuesday through Thursday and our flight leaves at 9:40am on Friday morning. Are we close enough to have one place for all three nights or should we leave DLP Thursday night and get to a hotel closer to CDG? Finally, I have been looking at hotels on property and good neighbor hotels. I see the Holiday Inn is still almost $180 a night. Is that just what we are going to have to pay or are there more budget hotels to look at. Would it be cheaper to stay somewhere in Paris and take the train in each day? Thanks for any help!
Originally Posted By davewasbaloo Hmmm. Yes there sre TGV services from Provence to Paris and there may be to DLP, but you are best off checking with them. As fo CDG, DLP is about 35 miles away. There is a regular bus service from DLP for a 1 hour journey. I don't know what time they start, but 3 am assuming you would need a 5am bus if you are flying to the US. As for hotels, that is a really good rate for the HI. The HI is 4stars and better than most of the official hotels. $180 for Sept is very good for most hotels in September. If you are on a budget, the Kyriad next door to the HI is often cheaper, and not a bad choice and has a free bus shared with the HI, Dreamcastle, and Explorers Hotel. Alternatively, in Val de Europe (our version of Celebration), there is an etap (bed and shower, no frills) and an Ibis (think travel lodge/Motel 6 type). They are often very cheap by European standards. You can then either drive (though you would pay to park), or walk 10 min to the station and take the 4min rail journey in. I personally would not stay in Paris and commute. The cost of rail passes and a 2 hour round trip commute are not worth the hastle. If you are considering staying on site, the Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge offer very good value as well as early entry to the parks. In addition to the 2 parks, DO NOT MISS Buffalo Bill's WIld West Show. It is the best dinner show Disney has ever done!

DLP is close enough to Charles de Gaulle that I wouldn't bother staying at an airport hotel the night before. I've never used the bus service, but I've heard it does a good job. Other options include using the TGV (very quick - but not very regular, it works only if it fits with your flight time) You could also try some of the Silver Shuttle (private hire) services. This is what we did when we flew and it worked out great. This isn't the company we used, but popped up in the LP google ads the other day so I bookmarked it <a href="http://www.p-transfere.com/rates.html" target="_blank">http://www.p-transfere.com/rat es.html</a> I can't vouch for them in any way, but if you google silver shuttle Paris you should find plenty. The site for the official shuttle buses is below. Depending on how many of you there are there isn't much difference in the price. <a href="http://www.vea.fr/uk/index.asp" target="_blank">http://www.vea.fr/uk/index.asp</a> Regarding lodging I agree that $180 isn't bad for the HI. I have stayed in the Kyriad also and would recommend it as the rooms are lovely. It's slightly more grown up in it's decor and is usually a little cheaper. I thought the breakfast was expensive for what you get though. I'd rather eat at the park! Two other notable options are the Adagio <a href="http://www.pv-holidays.com/scripts/fiche_produit.php?id_ofr=285&id_sai_passe=1" target="_blank">http://www.pv-holidays.com/scr ipts/fiche_produit.php?id_ofr=285&id_sai_passe=1</a> which I have stayed at several times and love and Residhome Prestige <a href="http://www.residhome.com/index.php?page=resa&ssp=dispo_gp&res=139" target="_blank">http://www.residhome.com/index .php?page=resa&ssp=dispo_gp&res=139</a> Which I stayed in last year. Both are self catering apartments. You get slightly more space for your money at Adagio, but Residhome is slightly nicer to look at and has more modern fixtures and fittings. The Adagio has a free shuttle bus to the parks and is close to Val d'Europes restaurant district. Residhome is the third point of a triangle that also includes the etap and ibis that Dave mentions above. I would say they are closer than 10 minutes from the Val d' Europe station. More like 2-3 minutes. I definitely wouldn't waste time staying in Paris when there are so many good options nearby. If you need anymore help just ask, between us Dave and I have plenty of DLP experience!!!
