I am so nervous about going here, because 1 of my daughter's has had a very bad experience in the other dentist office. My other daughter has really bad teeth. The top four teeth are very tiny and brown. This might make or break my trip to Disney World and that really stinks. I do not have dental insurance, so this is out of my pocket expenses. Now they both have mostly baby teeth my youngest daughter the one with the bad teeth has all baby teeth. The last dentist we went to about 18 months ago yea I know its a long time once again I do not have dental insurance told me that my youngest daughter grinds her teeth. Well let me tell you something I have never heard her do this. He also told me not to worry about it since they are baby teeth, well I ma worried about it and this is why I have saved up the money to go to another dentist in the first place. I just hope what he says is true otherwise I might have to go down to social services and get some help though this is not what I want to do. I have gotten off this help for a long time and I am trying to stay off of it even though I don't make much money. So please pray that there is no big problem, and that this dentist says the same thing.

Is there a hereditary issues with the teeth? Brown teeth doesn't sound right unless the kids are not brushing and flossing.

But, even when they do care for their teeth the proper way you can have issues. My son's teeth are too large for his mouth. He has now had 3 or 4 teeth pulled by the dentist. There isn't anything much more traumatic for a kid. At the moment I feel like the worst dad in the world but once we get through it I understand that I am doing the best I can by him and that is all you can really hope for with parents.

    Good luck with it all.

Elizabeth needs some crowns, and they both have cavities. I guess I better get myself down to social services tomorrow. Or I will not be able to go to D.W this next year. I know I qualify for medicaid. The dentist actually told me that their teeth were going to fall out and that I can also take care of their teeth by brushing and flossing more, this way the cavities wouldn't transfer as long as they aren't in pain.

I am not trying to be a meanie, here, but as a single parent I just have to ask: if you don't have money for your children's insurance, where are you getting the money for a WDW trip? One would think that your priority should be the kids well being.

I agree though that my priority should be my children, that much I will say and if I can not get famis (I do not want medicaid or food stamps, or a taniff check or anything like that) but if I can't get famis (health insurance that I pay for) for my kids then I will have to come with out of the pocket expenses.

You might want to shop around. A lot of dentists out there are still charging "boutique" prices. If money is an issue you might want to check out a "chain" dentist practice. We switched to one when our insurance became "junky" and even a cleaning and checkup would cost over $100 out of pocket (used to be free) at our long time "boutique" dentist. When I saw his brand new 7 series BMW parked outside I knew it was time to find a new dentist.

I had a tooth break last year (it had a huge filling) and I had a crown put in at a chain practice (Comfort Dental). Its worked out OK so far and my out of pocket was $300 vs $700 at my old dentist (keep in mind that I do have insurance).

    Anyway, your mileage may vary.

I feel for you too but if I could get any assistence; I would go for it. That's what it is there for. Without HealthyFamilies our sons would have missed out on much needed care.

This is great b/c even though it will take 23 days for all of this to go down it would take me much longer to come up with this money and she will get the care that is needed. I feel a little relieved by this, and I really didn't want to ask the government for more help than I needed. I really just wanted insurance. So I didn't even apply for medicaid, or food stamps, or taniff. I am very proud that I am a waitress doing this on my own, I just need my children to be taken care of.

dont worry to much about it, make sure she is brushing and flossing regulary and she should be fine. Do take her for regular check ups if you can.

My Sil had crowns put on my nephews teeth because they were really bad from bottle rot, he was 4 or so, she did not want the silver ones because of how they looked so she spent alot of money on the porcalin ones, they looked awful, really big for his little mouth. He ended up knocking one of them out anyway.

Money wasted.....again my dentist just reccomends babying the teeth with good brushing and flossing and floride treatments until they fall out on their own.

If your dd is having pain or difficulty eating because of her teeth then that is another thing.
