For the past six months or so the main Cellar exhibit has been all about World of Color. The entertainment in Disney theme parks is nice, but it's never been the primary reason why I visit. I like Disney theme parks because they are THEME PARKS and because they have RIDES. It's the new rides coming to DCA that has me the most excited, not park entertainment, and I can't wait to get a better look at the Mermaid ride and what it will look like. I wasn't that excited about Goofy's Sky School as just a retheme of Mulholland Madness. But now that we've seen the level of work they are doing on these remakes with Silly Symphony Swings, I'm looking forward to Goofy's Sky School as well. I now have half a mind to brave the World of Color crowds next weekend to check out this new Cellar exhibit, check out Glow Fest, and then maybe see about watching World of Color from the backside of water somewhere.

What I'm hoping is that the Imagineers will inject a few effects (sound, lighting, animated props, etc.) to make it a bit more engaging. Just putting a character overlay on it may not be enough.

Thus why I hated DCA in 2001 and, when visiting TDS six weeks later upon returning home, I LOVED the place. Immersion and theming is created through use of architecture, lighting, props, music, scents, horticulture and a myriad of other techniques that transport the guest to another time and/or place. THAT was what I meant - Disney parks have NEVER been about rubberheads, parades and rubbish like "CELEBRATE THE MAGIC(c)!!!!!1" shows for me. Frankly I cannot understand people that like that drivel.

I would say that some of Disney's parades (ie: America on Parade, The Electrical Parade, Eureka, and Lion King Celebration) have been arguably better than some of the rides. The Aladdin show is certainly more fun and repeatable to me than any of the character based attractions in Fantasyland. In other words, not all parades, much like attractions, are created equal.
