The plan is to build the bridge linking Hongkong, Macau and Zhuhai. Since it is a very big project, central government of China is involved.
Recently, they got the approval from Central Government of China to go ahead with the project. It was estimated that the cost of building the bridge has escalated to over HK$60 billion from HK$30billion.

They are still not yet decided how to finance the construction of the bridge and the method of sharing the cost.

But I believe they will struck a deal pretty soon.

The rest of the place is like a really nice shopping mall with hotels and conference center.
Kind of reminds you of one of the resort hotels in Las Vegas (ie, New York, New York, or MGM Grand when they had the theme park), but without gambling.

Definitely competition for Disney. Which is a good thing...

I can recall the genuine competition for HKDL which took place a couple of years ago. When HK formally announced about closing the deal with WDC to build HKDL project, Shanghai of Mainland China immediately announced they would start the construction of Universal Studios in Shanghai City to complete with HK. The Shanghai people of Mainland China are famous for their arrogance. They used to boast that they outperform Hong Kongers and exaggerate their success.

In the end, the project came to a halt afterward. I have no idea of how much money Shanghai City and Universal Studios invested in this project, and how much they lost or suffered.
In my opinion, Shanghai people¡¦s arrogance is their major weakness in the competitive business world, because that leads them to make irrational decisions and make big mistakes.

"HelloKittyLand" will be built in Macau. There will be a 4-star hotel. One of the companies behind this project is a japanese company, probably associated with the HelloKittyLand in Japan.
