    From Screamscape yesterday:

"Screamscape has been sent an interesting rumor that claims Disney’s Tri Circle D Ranch area, the nearby beach area along the lake and the former River Country property may all be planned to be leveled sometime next summer, to clear the site to make way for a brand new mega Disney resort project. Anyone else know more about this?"

    And more from today:

"According to our sources, Disney engineers have been spotted going over the site, to determine just what will need to be done to remove the remains of Water Country. Others have been seen near the front of Fort Wilderness talking about plans to build new barn facilities to move the current Tri Circle D Ranch to a new location. As for the resort itself, I’ve been told that this will be a new DVC Resort, with the design being based on the old Buffalo Junction plans from years ago (minus the now defunct Fort Wilderness Railroad and other extra features), filling the gap between the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness. You can find a nice article about the once proposed Buffalo Junction (aka: Wilderness Junction) concept at Progress City USA."

I wonder if they have Disney Magic Express and Magic Hours and transportation.
I heard that the DVC at BLT and the Grand were almost sold out. Which is a surprise in this economy. Guess they need more. Keep us posted!

Seriously! I mean, do they understand even the slightest the concept of re-investing in their brand? Who will want their hotel rooms when the parks are just a shell of what they once were? Folks may go to 6 flags type parks, but they sure don't stay 2 weeks and spend oodles of money!

And, hey, it's not like they need free dining, gift cards and discounts of up to 45% on rooms just to get decent load levels now, right?

I feel like it won't affect me as directly as TDO's bad choices in the parks, but all this pimping out of their "extra" acreage really worries me. Flamingo Crossing, the mansions on Dis property, DVC everywhere....all of it combines to ruin the feeling of being in this remote fantasy world of Disney. That is the thing I fell in love with at WDW over DLR and why I choose to vacation there more, even though DL could be argued to be a better park than MK and is near all my family I want to visit anyway! Ugh! Just when TDO appears to be making better choices (crossing fingers) with the future of the parks, they screw up the resort irreparably.

you base the sales issues on what ? DVC members get updates on sales and for the past 5 years they are virutally the same - about 21K unit /families per year.

what info do you have that shows this has changed in 2010 ?

They said BLT would sell out in 5 months. We're now at the 18 mark and last I checked 80% of the rooms have been sold.

a rosey forecast is not aq cause to say they are having trouble selling - they overestimated due to SS and AK still being sold at the same time. The fact that they are selling as many DVC memberships today as they were 5 years ago to me is a success story, not a struggling story, would you not agree ?

The fact that anyone is buying time shares with the nationwide foreclosure rte what it is on homes surprises me. As much as I enjoy my DVC since 1994- if I did not have I doubt I would be investing in today.

Regardless, I don't care whether it is DVC, a deluxe resort, value etc ... that area should be left as close to pristine as possible. There is barely any 'wilderness' left at WDW and even FW is now totally being encroached on all sides.

Yes, RC needs to be dealt with ... and removed ... but nothing more than FW facilities ... be they swimming, dining, recreational etc ... should go there.

TDO is truly taking every reason I have for spending money at WDW away.

for the record I would rather see a 3rd water park or something else go into River Country IF I had a choice, unfortunately I don't think I get a vote.
