Between Aerosmith, Twilight Zone, Indiana Jones, American Idol and Star Wars, there are a lot of really strong well-known brands in the park that really don't fall under the 'Disney' umbrella. Pixar Place would now fall under that title, but I think that most people still see Pixar as a completely separate brand, much like Miramax and Touchstone were, or ESPN and ABC are now. Related, but not really a part of the same thing (at least as far as the general public is concerned). That would leave us with the Animation Courtyard as the only thing that's really specifically "Disney Studios"-themed. There are a lot of neat areas of the park that are essentially themed to a generic studio and/or Hollywood, which wouldn't need any changes, but don't do much to enhance the Disney Studios theme. I still think that the MGM title was much stronger than the current moniker, but this allows them a lot more flexibility. Plus, people would confuse Disney Studios theme park with the actual working studio in Burbank (not that the "Disney Hollywood Studios" title helps that problem any)

Technically it was Disney-MGM Studios, so it still fits with the old name, but is also correct with the new onw. "MGM" just evokes a lot more interesting themes than "Hollywood" does, IMO.
