There was a time when this kind of work was not part of the guest experience. It was done at night and made the Magic Kingdom seem a little more magical. However, grave yard shifts are expensive and contract labor is cheaper. Screw Magic!

If the guy had been hammering away on something on Main Street that would be one thing. But behind construction walls and only visible to sharp-eyed people leaving Innoventions from 100 yards away on the second floor; that's not really the same thing in my opinion. No one even goes to Innoventions. Darkbeer only goes up there to get pictures of construction areas, and he probably pads the daily turnstile counts for that attraction immensely because of it. ;-)

The Submarines were closed for refurbishment, the lagoon was drained, and there were sloppy looking construction guys smoking and drinking Pepsi all over that empty lagoon. I got a ton of pictures of it from both the Skyway and the Monorail that visit. Thousands and thousands of paying Disneyland customers also got that same view, thanks to the operating Skyway, Monorail and Peoplemover attractions that offered excellent views of the empty lagoon and construction area. That was in 1986. Construction happened back then too, just like it did in 1976, 1966 and 1956. They always put up nice walls, but sometimes your going to get a glimpse of a sloppy consruction crew from the second floor or from the Skyway or from the PeopleMover. It happens.

I turn on to Ball and making the turn on to Ball from Cast Way(?) the front section of Monorail Blue on a truck getting shipped out. Looked kinda sad seeing the Monorail that way.
