I will be there for 2 weeks. Why can't I just buy 1 mug for length of stay? I'm confused. Can anyonine enlighten me? Also, how do you feel about this mug situation? I don't like it. I understand they are a business, but they really are very greedy lately. What in the "world" is going on?

We go down once a year and like to make the most of it that's all. We have only so many points, so we like to maximize them. Thanks to all who posted

With all the money you spend at WDW, buying individual sodas just never seemed like that big a deal. Of course on the other hand, I've never been a big soda drinker. I rarely have more than one or two a day, and I can't drink more than 12 ounces at a time. I'll never figure out how people manage to drink down those massive cups they have everywhere today.

Originally Posted By FerretAfros I agree with RT that, even if I could come out ahead on the cost, I've never wanted to deal with the hassle of the mugs. We tend to eat breakfast and then head straight to the buses, and I have no interest in carrying a mug around the parks all day. We then eat lunch and dinner out in the parks, and typically head straight back to the room, so we wouldn't get more soda on the return trip. Perhaps if the mugs would also be valid in the parks they would be more practical, but they just don't seem to fit the way I visit WDW >>Seeing as how you always had to put your mug under the spout since day one, I fail to see what the extra step is<< I assume it will take the system a moment to recognize your mug/cup (paper cups will be scanned now too) and decide whether or not you're authorized for more soda. I've seen people at the self-scan lanes in the grocery store; despite how straightforward this may seem, I doubt it will be as easy as it is now
Originally Posted By Goofyernmost The grocery self scan lines are a bit more complex then this is. Here you have a paid for and initialized mug or paper cup. If you try to slip in a mug from 1980, it won't read it, you don't get any drink, you use a sippy cup, it won't work, you use a coffee cup you brought with you it won't work. Use a paid for mug or cup and you walk away with a drink exactly the same way as before. There is nothing complex about it. The only ones that will be having a problem are those that try and get something for nothing. I fail to see a downside here.
