It helps build anticipation and really makes it feel like a parade going thru New Orleans. I really think one of things that set disneyland apart from other parks is it entertainment offereings, from the street performers, due the parades, large shows, and fireworks.

Originally Posted By DBitz2 There's actually a good bit of new street entertainment. The Dapper Dans are still around, by the way, just in reconfigured performances. The DL Band participates in some street entertainment, then breaks up into other groups that also do street entertainment. I caught one this past weekend that I hadn't seen previously. It was a "firehouse" ragtime band that played by the Fire Station. There was interaction with Chip 'n' Dale and Goofy. I've seen another ragtime type band dressed in red, white and blue that performs near Clothiers and has interaction with Mickey and Donald. There is a revamped flag retreat ceremony. And, there have been a couple of different Castle mini shows. One with the DL Band and several characters, and the other with Mary Poppins and Bert and the Pearlie Band. Of course, New Orleans Square has had the pirate entertainment, and, now, the Mardi Gras celebration. So, yes, there is lots of street entertainment. Unfortunately, much of it is not included in the daily entertainment guide, so you have to ask at City Hall to find out when they are performing if you want to catch a particular performance.

DL seems to have decided to go a different way with the street preformers, the NEW Dans, are all mic'd and wear tap shoes. The old Dan's were much better and genuinely nice, and they didn't need Mic's. It was our, DH and I's, tradition to go and listen to the Dans every visit. They sang me Happy birthday last year, and posed for pictures. The guys were really nice. One of them is a substitue bass in the new dans, and one of them is the tin flute player in the Pirate Band in NOS. The other two have moved on. My DH tried to file a complaint with CIty Hall and the guy at the counter stated that the old dans had decided to leave, it was not the park's decision. He basically didn't want to take the complaint. It is sad to see, because while I like the more jazzy street preformers of DCA I loved the Dans, the Brass Band and the other street preformers of DL, the Dans voices were kind of like a welcome back... Okay, I will step down off my soap box.. Love Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter (DH)

I've grown attached to many of the DL musicians through the years, and hated to see them go. But I find myself enjoying the new ones just as much, eventually. I'm not aware of any groups appearing in TL, FL or TT currently.
