Plans filed with the French authorities indicate that DLP might get a new value resort, like WDW's Art of Animation. It might get built at the former Lava Lagoon Waterpark site. I'm a little surprised at this. Not that DLP wouldn't want to add more value rooms, but I thought a deluxe would come first as this has been hinted at more clearly in the past. I'm also a little sad that this would lose the "American" theme. Maybe if they could tie it into an animated movie set in America and evoke that place/period it would help. Something like Lilo & Stitch could work as it would fit the animation theme, but also add Hawaii to the roster of US places the hotel features.
I agree that it would be a shame to lose the overarching American/architecture themes of the other hotels. However, just because the shapes of the buildings are similar to Art of Animation (and the other WDW Values) doesn't mean that the theme will be. The themes are essentially only present in the oversized props and paint colors, not the buildings themselves. I think that some sort of mid-century modern hotel could be a neat addition (and would fit the "New Wave" name, and could link to Hawaii as suggested) and could easily be done for budget accommodations. Universal Orlando recently used a similar theme for their Cabana Bay hotel When was the Lava Lagoon project originally proposed? I thought it was relatively recent, but the model looks like the style that they used in the early 90's
