Calling Disneyland revealed (according to the Disney employee reached, of course): 1) New Year's Eve is the #1, busiest day of the the Disneyland year. 2) The gates were closed around 5PM last year. 3) There is a special Fantasmic show is Disneyland as well as other special touches (and something being "dropped" for New Year's countdown) at each park, but this information is not given out. 4) This year, there has been no advertisement of the event -- presumably to keep the gates from being locked so early in the evening, if not actually to lessen the New Year's Eve crowd. The above information has been given to customer service to be given out to the public if asked about the event.
