"If you want to call it significant undercounting, I guess that's a euphemism for fraud," said the mayor. Unofficial tallies on election night gave Obama no votes in 78 out of more than 6,000 election districts. << Once again, time to get rid of Voting Machines and other types of automated machines, and go back to a simple, standard Paper Ballot (with devices to help fill out a paper ballot for the blind and others who need assistance). You have a voter log with signatures, that shows how many ballots should have been cast in a certain precinct, and the amount of paper ballots should match. And while the Paper method is not perfect, some safety checks, such as using clear plastic ballot boxes (used in many countries, shows that the box was empty when the polls opened) and placed in the middle of the location, away from the precinct workers, and can be watched by folks that want to verify the process. At poll closing, the box is sealed, and it and the voter rolls, which are tallied and a final count is placed on the cover sheet by the workers are sent to the central location, where once again, you can have 3rd parties watching the process. An election worker opens the ballot box, counts the amount of ballots (or a machine could do it), and verifies the amount to the Cover Sheet of the signature rolls, if they do not match, then it can be put to the side, and then election workers could double check the amount of ballots and the signatures on the voter rolls after the rest of the precincts were processed. Also, Paper is great for things like recounts, as is currently going on in New York....
