I'd appreciate your insights! Cheers, Lee

So $9.99-$12 for a full-album. $1-$1.50 per track for smaller track lists. At this point, I prefer digital downloads. Since you mention the book, I think I'd prefer the book come with a code to download the album through iTunes, rather than buying a physical CD. Now, a small book (think children's hardcover size, or LP magazine size) with interesting details is valuable to me. But, value would again be along the lines of those prices so along the same price as Tales. $10, $15 maybe if it was hardcover. Less, if it is smaller. If it's only slightly expanded liner notes, I would only add a couple dollars to the price of the tracks. So as a package, $15-$25. $20 or less, I would absolutely buy them; probably any of them. Over $20, I would snatch up my favorite attractions, and hem and haw over the rest.

I will stash away money in anticipation of adding to the collection. But what tends to happen is that in 12-18 months most of the line is discontinued except for the most popular pieces (which were the ones I bought on my first trip). I end up grumbling, and then rewarding some Ebay seller who stocked up at the Outlet store and paying more than original retail, to complete my collection. So just because certain titles are not "hot-sellers" from the get-go, does not mean they are not desired.

So it can be a costly business. And then there is the "demand" issue. It looks like DLR have passed on the World of Color soundtrack now - crazy considering the success of the show.

I understand clearance issues, especially for material produced in the last century, before these considerations were even thought about. But I can't help but think that theme park produced material should be fairly easy to clear up and get out there.

I do think Disney is missing a very big chance to make money itself on products like park DVDs and certainly soundtracks. It blows my mind (after seeing WoC three times in the past week or so) that there is no soundtrack for sale. Paris would sell it. Tokyo would sell it. Yet, DL thinks pins, vinyls, cups, tees and sweatshirts are all anyone wants. Of course, if this were Tokyo you'd likely have bags, napkins, cups etc all promoting WoC instead of the cheap and insipid 'DL: Where Dreams Come True ... Celebrate Today' covering (perhaps in honor of the latest gulf oil 'splosion, I should use the word 'coating') everything. ~Walmarting will kill mice~

Price, I would say about $20 sounds right if it's just one CD. With LE booklet and multiple CD's, possibly $30. The thing is, you need to keep it relative. I understand about clearance issues, and rights costs. Look at the Walt Disney and the 1964 World's Fair CD set. That one had some major hurdles to get over (especially the Ford stuff) before seeing the light of day. The price point on that is $40 for a 5 disc set! So...yeah, I would buy it in a heartbeat if it was an official release, but please don't go crazy. I mean that LE Haunted Mansion set with the 2 CD's, and reproduction LP cost $100...that was way too much, and I think fans thought so as well since it didn't sell as fast as they would have liked.

I agree with most LP comments that Disney really misses the market with their unique music in shows and parades. I remeber the old video of a Day in Disneyland. Still interesting to be able to see the vintage lands and all the changes and progress that has been made. I also have a fan based DVD (computer digitally creation) Adventure thru Inner Space Virtual Ride Thru. All I can say is it is really trippy!

I don't remember the exact pricing of the 50th set, but I thought it was pretty fair with all that was included. And I would only buy them if I could get CD's. I have no interest in buying them off iTunes, which is why I don't have the soundtrack from Up (yes, I'm still bitter).
