When he was given the multi-page list of rules, and the warning to 'learn your history', I thought there might be a cool little mystery of some sort intertwined with the movie. Instead, the list is forgotten, Stiller just accepts that stuff comes to life and gets chased a lot. I think if you lost 3/4's of the budget, and if Cesar Romero or Joe Flynn had been digitally inserted in this movie, substitute Stiller with Kurt Russell, it would be very much in keeping with Disney live action of the 1970's. Harmless, but pretty generic and forgettable.

Bill Cobbs is an actor whose work goes back to the 70s, but he was familiar to me from his role in 'The Bodyguard' with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. Cobbs played Houston's father(?) and was the voice of reason when they hired Costner as the bodyguard.
